Uggs....anyone?

Post by Joe »

Just curious if anyone has tried the ugg thing. I have a pair of emus which have better arch support but they are nonetheless light tan suede like boots that come up to about mid calf. Just like you see in the malls. I have worn them (outside the pants) but not with a skirt yet. I dont have any other footwear that I think looks remotely good with a denim mini or knee length that I have...save for maybe some hikers.

I have though about doing the slip on thing or maybe sandals in summer but wasnt sure what other experiences are. I am not into boots with big heels etc but I do want something other than just a pair of flats (which I couldnt wear anyway) I have a size 12 foot so my footwear options are pretty limited to begin with.

Actually, I think they started in Australia, but they are pretty common in the USA.

I think Uggs would look just fine with the right skirt.

Oh, boots. I heard someone at work mention them today, but they were talking about a common problem with them, I don't quite rermember what they said but I think it was a problem with the souls, leading to foot problems.

There was some discussion on the local radio the other day about rising levels of heel injuries caused by people wearing flip flops and Uggs. The presenter then qualified that by noting that real Uggs are pretty well made but that there are lots of fashion copies that provide almost no cushioning for the heel. I guess it is not surprising that a boot costing well over £100 should be better made than a £15 imitation.

Have fun,

Ian.

I hope I don't have foot problems with my sole while fishing for Sole( a flounder or fluke species) and later when I'm a soul in heaven. :hide:

Had I typed the original I'd have put it down to "thrombosis digitalis", colloquially translated as "a clot on the keyboard"*. However I'd not be that rude to you B&B, so we'll call it a flaw in the spell check software :D

Have fun,

Ian.

i've got a pair of ugg-type boots (not ugg brand) that came with a removable inner-sole. they are very comfortable, even for long-term wear, and VERY warm.

I have worn UGGS and various iterations of UGGS for many years and have never had any problems. In the winter I will wear shearling boots all day. Some of the cheaper boots do not last very long, but you get what you pay for. People with heel or foot problems might want more cushion than most of that type of boot offers.
I wear the tall boots with a long skirt so the skirt is below the top of the boot, I think the combination looks good.
I will also wear black tights under the skirt in cold weather.

Was about to buy some Ugg style boots but the company had sold out of my size in the last few days. Typical luck for me as they have both smaller and larger sizes!!!

Uggs come in all sorts of styles besides the usual suede with shearling lining. I looked for a long time to find a nice fitting pair of warm boots that would look good with skirts. It was a tough search. The men's boots I could find were either the engineer/biker kind that didn't complement a nice skirt, or, in the case of some riding boots, very high priced. I started shopping on the other side of the aisle, and after numerous trials, including some mail order, I finally settled on Uggs in a model called Broome. It is very plain, smooth leather with a fleece lining. The heel is quite low, certainly lower than many men's boot. They look great with a calf-length, ankle-length, or even knee-length when worn with tights. They cost way too much for my budget, but after 2 years of intense winters, they are worth it for the warmth. Sizing seems to be about 1 size difference than men's, so my size 10 to 10 1/2 feet work out to 11's, giving up a little since tights are much thinner than heavy socks I normally wear with boots.

I don't know if I can put recommend a vendor, but Zappos has an excellent selection, overnight delivery and free returns. After dealing with $12 shipping to return boots, having a prepaid label is wonderful. And they have lots of detail about their shoes and boots to help you make an informed choice.

Ugg-style boots have come in for a massive sating in the UK press, this weekend. Headed,"UGG-ONY! Woolly celeb boots blamed for ankle sprains and foot fungus", The Sun has quite a revealing article on said footwear. And to give the article balance, there's a small piece from their Fashion Editor who, naturally, quote, "doesn't care"! :x

Makes one think, though, job security amongst chiropodists/podiatrists must be reaching new limits, as the wearers of 'high heels' alone are already costing the UK health service/economy over £35 million - a year! Now a new bonus appears - Uggtastic! :D
