Pantyhose and tights

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

B & B,

RLS = Restless Leg Syndrome

**Restless legs syndrome is a common sensorimotor disorder that
affects millions of people. Patients describe the condition in various
ways, from a burning and aching to a creepy feeling like bugs
crawling inside their legs. Patients with RLS often have the urge to
move their legs even when they want to rest. Symptoms are usually
worse during the evening while sitting or lying down. Often, the only
way patients can find relief is to get up and move around.
RLS can affect patients' sleep and their day-to-day lives.
Many people who have RLS find that the only way to ease or stop
the uncomfortable sensations is to move around. Unfortunately, this
constant urge to move makes it difficult to relax, sit, or even get to
sleep.
Many people with RLS find that their legs are more bothersome at
night when they just want to rest. This often causes them to be
tired during the day, and can make it difficult to concentrate and
enjoy normal activities. In fact, studies show that RLS can have as
great an impact on quality of life as many major illnesses, including
diabetes and depression.
Primary vs secondary restless legs syndrome.
Restless legs syndrome can be a primary or a secondary condition.
Primary RLS is the main form of the disease.
Secondary RLS is caused by an unrelated condition such as
pregnancy
* , anemia, or iron deficiency.
Twelve million Americans may suffer from moderate to severe
primary RLS, according to one estimate.**

This info is from
http://www.mirapex.com/mirapex-patient-about-rls.jsp

This drug company has medications for RLS relief. I didn't
have to take this, but I've had RLS for awhile. It got a whole
lot better when I was diagnosed with 'sleep apnea'. Once I
was on the CPAP machine at night, my RLS symptoms dimminished
to next to nothing. I no longer kick my wife while we are asleep.

Hope this info helps! :D

Secondary RLS is caused by an unrelated condition such as
pregnancy* , anemia, or iron deficiency.
I fit this to a tee. I've wondered if I had P.A.D. but this fits my problem more. Sometimes I look inside my diabetic socks to see if bugs are in there, I'm all the time feeling something moving around inside my socks. Of course I might have this AND P.A.D.... Rolling and moving, poor sleep, waking constantly, nighttime TV watching cause I can't sleep, finally falling asleep around 6 or 7 am and sleeping like a dead person until 4 pm. This is why you never see posts from me until late afternoon or night est. :blue:

I've been anemic ever since my ulcer appeared, and take iron pills daily. (no pregnancy problems yet) hehehe

I went to the site and took the check list ... I was yes on every question, except family, which there are none left.

This is right up my alley. seems like pantyhose and tights go hand in hand with kilts. Do all your girlfriends/wives agree??

No! My wife does not agree. She reckons tights or panty hose look ridiculous with kilts (she expects kilt hose or knee length socks) but can look great with skirts, however I dislike shaving my legs so panty hose are not on my list of legwear choices anyway. As always YMMV.

Have fun,

Ian.

Maybe it's just me. I can wear tights or petticoats under my skirts without a 2nd thought but for some unknown reason I get all weirded out thinking of wearing "panty" anythings. To me, "panties" are really a female thing. A man wears underpants, not panties or pantyhose. Just hose would be fine, as long as it didn't have the word "panty" stuck on it.

Like I said, maybe it's just me. :D

In the winter I wear tights/panty hose with my kilt, but also have the long socks (hose) on as well also a nylon slip (underskirt)

...and, to be fair, if the hose are nude or nearly nude, I suspect no one will notice them so the question of whether they look good or not becomes somewhat moot.

From a personal prespective I really don't have a strong view either way, but silky asked about how wives / SO's view them so that was the initial answer I gave above. I should point out that my wife is not very keen on men in any form of tights / leggings in combination with a kilt although she seems more comfortable when the legwear is combined with a skirt other than a kilt. I suspect this is nothing more than familiarity; she expects kilt hose with a kilt and expects tights with a skirt. Anything that jars with this expectation looks "odd" to her and raises her eyebrows. The fact that I dislike the feel of close fitting full length legwear*, means she is unlikely to get familiar with the look anytime soon.

Have fun (and don't let my opinions put you off wearing whatever you choose to),

Ian.

* To put this into context: I don't even wear cycling tights until the weather absolutely forces me to do so and then I hide them under tracksuit bottoms - there are some sights the world does not need to see  .

I do a lot of cycling and wear Lycra tights, and I don't care what people think, but last year I was in the supermarket at the checkout and a voice from behind me said "mummy why is that man dressed like a ballerina"
As for my tights/panty hose I get "natural tan" so it does not look out of place

"mummy why is that man dressed like a ballerina"
...to which the appropriate response is "because he likes to dance too!"

I guess for me it depends on the kilt and how bulky or not it is. I have kind of a lightweight blue, black and white kilt that I got years ago from a punk clothes website that looks good with black tights, but my Irish National Tartan kilt from Sportkilt wouldn't at all.
