Wearing Sandals with skirts and kilts
Re: Wearing Sandals with skirts and kilts
Birkenstocks for everyday wear. Lace up work boots and heavy socks for labor. Knee high moccasins for costuming (Renn fairs, halloween, etc.) They all look good with a kilt.

Re: Wearing Sandals with skirts and kilts
Last Sunday was a lovely sunny day, so wife and I went walking on Brean Down near Weston Super Mare. I wore a corduroy Union kilt and sandals (no socks). The feeling of freedom was amazing. My wife was one of the very few women to wear a skirt that day. Most people were in regulation jeans. They must have been sooo hot.
I had the usual reactions i.e. a few looks, nothing more.

If I want to dress like a woman, I'll wear jeans.

Re: Wearing Sandals with skirts and kilts
I can't actually wear any shoes, including sandals, without socks or tights, I have circulation problems in my lower legs and my feet and legs will cramp up quickly if they get cold. I carry Quinine and Potassium Gluconate with me all the time in case of cramps.

I don't wear socks with sandals ever. I feel the sandals are lossing there function if you wear the socks. It doesn't metter shorts, trousers, kilt, skirt...

"Ever" is a long time, wait till you get older. I didn't wear even sandals for the first 45 years of my life, I went barefoot nearly all the time. Ever hear of P.A.D. ? Peripheral Artery Disease. It flattens the veins in my legs cutting down on the circulation and making my feet and lower legs cold all the time. Without heavy socks or thick tights I get massive cramping in my legs making it impossible for me to even walk or sit without overdosing with Quinine to stop the cramps. Getting out of the hot bathtub onto the tile floor starts the cramps, I have to have heavy terrycloth leg warmers waiting when I get out of the tub. Enjoy your youth, I certainly enjoyed mine.Mipi said: I don't wear socks with sandals ever.

Sorry to hear that. So let me correct myself; if I leave out youngest period (when my mother somethimes forced me to wear something I didn't like) up to now (46) I never wore socks with sandals.

A little trick I figgered out for quotes...lots easier than the [.quote="quoter"] starting section..I just go right up to the 4th box from the left to the Quote button, hit it which brings up [.quote][/.quote] make a divider right in the middle and add the actual quote, then type So and So said: and you get everything you need without having to remember the = and the " and " on the first [quote.] like this>>

Re: Wearing Sandals with skirts and kilts
I wore (as did most young lads in those days) short socks with sandals throughout the summer months back in the '50s & early '60s. Unless 'on the beach', it would never have occurred to me that there was any other way!

I think with the right skirt, sandals would look great. It was certainly good enough for our skirted ancestors of old...

Re: Wearing Sandals with skirts and kilts
I often wear Birkenstock sandals with my knee length skirts. They come in handy wading in the shallows in the summer looking for shells. No sand ever stays in them like shoes of any kind. Since I wear straight skirts for that, bending at the waist to pick stuff up is easy. Usually blue denim or black or khaki twill for wading.
This past summer I had an interesting experience doing that. I was bent at the waist digging a shell out from under a rock and not thinking about my surroundings and with my hair hanging down around my face and someone on shore hollered out at me. "Hey Ma'am, finding anything??" I looked around me to see who he was hollering at and I was the only one there. I didn't mess with his mind, I just shouted back in my bass voice, NOTHING SPECIAL, JUST A FEW SHELLS!..As he walked away he kept looking back over his shoulder. I guess I did end up messing with his mind after all...hehehe
