But I have to say, I loved Sarah Palin's skirt suit. I want one like that, with a bit more of a "masculine" cut to the jacket.
I liked the sheen, and the fit. It just looked nice, and I think would look good on a male.
Ah well, one can wish.

Re: I know this may seem silly
I'm all for seeing that as a male style. Partly because it would be attractive to me but also because I'm all for the day when that choice of wearing pants or skirt doesn't get a lot more about the person read into it. You know Palin's handlers/wardrobe consultants are well aware that if she had been wearing slacks she would be seen very differently. While it might also be her preference that skirt also assured people she is a traditional woman. For the variety women do have in clothing, a woman in pants does get some baggage added, just not the same degree men can subjected to.
Actually, I'm okay with some things read into clothing. Let me picture a news commentator in the not too distant future...
"President Pythos today gave his speech from the Rose Garden to announce the success of his 'Live and Let Live' policy that has led to today's global peace. His red hose brought a cheery contrast to the black skirt and matching suit and punctuated the joyfulness of the occasion. It is thought his views on sartorial equality honed young prepared him for analyzing other issues in new ways as well such as those that led to this peace. Let us now turn to a live report from the celebration going on at DC's popular nightclub Skirt Cafe where the president is dancing the night away in his catsuit that appears much admired by the women gathered around him."

A wonderful piece of journalistic reporting.
I haven't seen the suit mentioned, but knowing Pathos, I am sure it would be just as he stated.
I think the very one thing holding skirted suits from becomming available would be the exclusitivity, by the low production numbers, making them extremely expensive. But we can hope and see. Of course, if you have, as a male, a suitable figure, then you may be able to fit into a women's suit quite snugly.

Edit Ihave just seen a glimpse of the news on TV, and I think that I saw her in a black suit, with a black ribbon. The suit that I saw was very nice and would be very smart on a man with a slender (suitable) build.

A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.
Re: I know this may seem silly
Lol, quiet mouse. I like the little journalistic story there.
Me as president? No way no how. I'm not smart enough, and frankly would not have the patience if at the red button. J/K.
Seriously though, I would hope when the day comes about that men acquire fashion choice, that what the representative wears to galas or meetings doesn't really enter the topic unless it is a fashion type show. Then it would be understandable.
I do not think there would be peace with me at the helm...I would want to go after the countries that really violate human rights, such as Saudi, and Uzbecastan (the leader boils his enemies to death), to name a couple.
I would also mandate skirts to be worn by all memebers at least once a week.
Perhaps mandating would be the wrong approach, how about, giving financial incentives to those (male and female) that come to work skirted. I like that far better than mandating, though mandating is usually how the government gets people to do what they don't want, but usually need to do. I do think we need to break away from thinking that mundane pants suits is the only choice for men, but madating it would be too strong, so do things the other way governments get people to do something. Inccentives

Re: I know this may seem silly
Hmm, forced male skirt wearing, whoops, there go our human rights out the window. One wonders what other things Pythos would force his constituents to do? In a perfect world, skirt wearing by anyone would be a personal choice. I personally would like to see that a fact of life, and not to be "mandated" to do anything by a politician. Too much of that already. But, Pythos is still young and somewhat of a firebrand, perhaps he'll mellow with age. We can only hope.Pythos wrote: I would also mandate skirts to be worn by all memebers at least once a week.

Since when are brains a prerequisite for holding public office?Pythos wrote:Me as president? No way no how. I'm not smart enough, and frankly would not have the patience if at the red button. J/K.

As far as the BRB (Big Red Button) goes, there are times when things get bad enough that a man just needs to spit on his hands, raise high the black banner, and get to work. Stabbing the BRB is just a quicker way to get the deed done.
I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that any one of our public officials could venture to a formal soiree in an evening-dress kilt outfit and it'd go down fine. It's a pity that they lack the substance to try it.Seriously though, I would hope when the day comes about that men acquire fashion choice, that what the representative wears to galas or meetings doesn't really enter the topic unless it is a fashion type show. Re: I know this may seem silly
I think Mrs Palin look very nice indeed in her skirt suit. That's one thing you'd never see La Clinton wearing
Perhaps this may persuade more American women to try a skirt?

How about this as an idea: Lead by example! A "Follow me!" charge is vastly more inspiring to the troops than a command from the back-bench.Pythos wrote:I would also mandate skirts to be worn by all members at least once a week.Perhaps mandating would be the wrong approach, how about, giving financial incentives to those (male and female) that come to work skirted. Although, in mulling the notion of skirts on men in the Federal Government I just can't get the image of J. Edgar Hoover in a pink tutu out of my head....

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...don't say that..Thank the powers that be that I only have memories of J. Edgar Hoover in black and white so I can't imagine him in a PINK tutu, it's bad enough to picture him in any tutu...much less a pink one. Like putting a tutu on a bulldog.carl wrote: Although, in mulling the notion of skirts on men in the Federal Government I just can't get the image of J.
