Hi Ian,
I'm always worried about wasting anyone's time with wild ideas , but anything I post must have made some sense to me to take the trouble to do it. It seems I'm on the wrong track though at times.
Some saw it before I pulled the plug, but intrigue will have to be the name of the game for this posting.

"Brainstorming" used to be (maybe still is?) a popular technique for getting ideas on the table in a meeting. The most important rules were than no ideas were discussed during the brainstorm (simply proposed and noted) and that no ideas were too stupid to propose.

Sometimes a superficially ridiculous idea can trigger a thought in someone else that develops into a real corker. Maybe your "time wasting" idea could have developed in a similar way but, even if it did not, once you've taken the time to post it you can't get that time back by deleting it.

In my view silly ideas are like silly questions; they really don't exist, but individuals who can not see value in any particular question or idea should refrain from commenting on that particular subject.

Sorry - just wanted to confirm that the decision to withdraw the brilliant office poster idea was not prompted by anyone at skirtcafe...I use other sources of intelligence as well. Maybe I was too quick about cutting its umbilical, and it might have triggered a better approach, or use in a different way...
But basically it was a colour ad-styled poster that I'd designed that fits on A4 so can be printed off by anyone here, and pinned up at their place of work. Its message was short with the headline "Whoever invented trousers should be made to wear them". Going on to briefly say that times change, so do opinions, skirts are as practical for man as woman - just a nudge towards changing stubborn opinions. I could only use my own picture, as anyone else's is not on. I don't mind being made a laughing stock on an office wall (or thrown darts at - if that's what it takes).
As the general opinion is that inroads into workplace skirtwearing are virtually non existent for job security reasons, there isn't much point in pursueing the matter. Personally I see that as defeatist talk, but I'm not employed, so not in the same boat as guys who have mortgages and families to support. I can understand that. Pity we can't do something about it though - even if we'll be too old to benefit in the long run. Folk want things now.
PS...Ian...the Dolphin or The Royal Marine is a good place for a pint, by Seaside Hill. Maybe, one day .

I saw it and liked it as well. The past few days have been very busy for me due to some work issues, so I haven't had much time to actively think about the idea, but, on the face of it, I certainly doubt it could hurt.

I thought the logo was actually very nice.

If anyone doesn't like the idea, they can ignore it. If anyone likes it, they might be able to use it. I'll leave it at that for the minute. It'll be posted in a more explanatory way after I've eaten.

Here it is again.
The idea is that if anyone wants to use it (sneak it onto your staff noticeboard if you want to remain anonymous), then it might be an ice-breaker for a passing conversation. You know your environment and if there would be any receptive views. I don't.
I've kept the message short, and it intentionally doesn't mention cross dressing or TV. As soon as you say it has nothing to do with either, folk think that it probably does and is just trying to pre-empt opposition.
Sorry it's only my photo - as already explained I can't use anyone else's. But if anyone wants to create another version with another photo, why not? It's just an idea. Maybe a more acceptable skirt for an office.
If you rightclick on it you can then select 'Print Picture' (Mac users will have another way maybe - I don't run a Mac - or amock - well, very often.)
Seriously - if you think this could be of even fractional use just to get folk at work to stretch their imaginations. You know the stuff that gets people musing. Who knows where it might lead.
I simplified the logo to the last one I posted, leaving out 'Skirts for men too!' as it's obvious that's what the poster is all about.
If you want to remove the last two lines, though I've tried to treat the sentiment in a light way, that's another option.
A reversed traffic version is now also here as well.
