Greetings!
Hi all. I thought I'd introduce myself a little.
I'm from the Portland, Oregon area in the U.S., and as I am not really a skirt-wearer (I only own one skirt, and I made it out of a pair of $3 gym shorts. I only really wear it to bed.), but plan to be at least a kilt-wearer, I thought I would pop into this forum for support of some kind. I respect all of you who are publicly fighting for men's fashion freedom, as that is a cause that is very dear to my heart. Unfortunately, I don't have the courage to walk out and buy a skirt, and most certainly not to wear it in public. I'm still young though, and I'm sure that courage will come with time, but for now it's definitely good to know that you guys are all out there and I won't really be alone in this, because I've always thought skirts just make more sense for men to wear, and I knew I couldn't have been the only one to think that.

Re: Greetings!

There are several of us here who prefer to will wear a kilt
before wearing a skirt. I've only 'gone out' skirted two times.
A non-event both times, but I still prefer the kilt.
If you are on a budget ( Who isn't!), you may want to consider
http://www.stillwaterkilts.com for a not to exspensive kilt.
They are made in America, and shipping is quick!
Just a thought!

Greetings and welcome to the Cafe.
Sit right down between the potted palms and the potted members, hiccup! I was much the same as you when I first joined the forerunner of this site in 2004, by late 2005 I was out and about in skirts, in 2006 I went on a plane, and a taxi and into the Rio Hotel in Vegas, played in the World Series Of Poker (lost) and didn't wear a pair of trousers or any other bifurcated garment for a long week in Las Vegas. It was a non-event. The only comments I got were all favorable and all by beautiful babes.
Several of which took my picture for me.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Re: Greetings!
Welcome mugbeliever,
Most of us have been where you are now and relate very well to your sensitivity. We're all in different circumstances with regards to where, when, and how often we go public and in what company. We're also of various degrees in style as you may have gathered. But regardless of where you fall in the spectrum, your support is appreciated.

Re: Greetings!
It's nice to see that everyone here seems so kind and supportive. I think I'll be around here a lot.
Re: Greetings!
Congratulations
.
I liked Skirtcafe webpage, I like yours ideas about equality among men and women in fashion .
I would do like to invite you to visit latin countries, like Brazil, to reenforce the notion the skirts do fit for both gender.
In latin countries, "the machism" is too strong
and it there is too much prejudice against the "men in skirt", since skirts is associated with women.
Unfortunately, it there is not only prejudice, it there are harassament, threaten, assault and even physical violence against men who try to wear skirts in public
. Even assuming gay men don´t ever wear skirts in public. Only drags and transgenders wear, at night.
I am afraid to threaten my social status too, so I do not wear skirts, but I like because it is perfect in an almost hot and humid region all over the year.
Despite the shinny and warm weather, and agreing that skirts is the best option for this condition, anybody (men) have the courageous to defend it, because it there is a strong prejudice against men wearing skirts
.
I hope this movement may spread all over the western and defeat the trousers tiranny or the short mind perception of the majority of latin men about how good and confortable is wear one skirt or kilt.
Regards
I hope we could change the point of view

Re: Greetings!
Welcome Gui,
From my travels in South America, I think skirts for men will be a tough sell. It will have to start with teenagers. But Brazil would be the logical point of introduction. Good luck.
