Utility Skirt

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Yes, that looks like something a guy could wear. A good neutral colour, tough looking material, plenty of pockets and complete with a zip fly and broad belt loops.

I love the style of the skirt, which I think without any doubt has a unisex look about it, and which looks comfortable and cool. Colourwise, I think it would also look good in a denim colour, as opposed to being made in denim.

I love the styles. They are so unique. I love the way the designers drape and gather the fabric. Definitely for someone who is redy for fashion adventure.

Sasquatch, of all the skirts, I like the first, Gabi Skirt By Ronen Chen and Austere Skirt By XCVI Wearables
As for the rest, I am not a pull up seam skirt lover as yet, but then again I am not used to seeing them.

With regards to the cargo skirt, from Gregg 1100, the front zipper is too short to be practical for men. :(

But the cargo model should do well, especially as a replacement for like holliday style pants.

That's interesting. Those were the only two I was immediately attracted to. The others seemed, to my mind, too "busy".

The only reason for the zipper is to get the garment over the hips. Only guys tend to use the zip for other "functions". Personally, I'd prefer a hidden zip on the side or in the back; it presents a cleaner line than a variant on a jeans zip.

I do agree on the zipper point. I am wearing many skirts which have side or rear zippers, and find the skirts very clean that way. Although, with regards to denim skirts, they lend themselves to being styled and used as their denim (pants) equivalents are. But urinating while wearing a skirt does seem not so practical to me. So I lift up or sit down. Otherwise the skirts are definitely more finely styled without front zippers, or pockets for that matter. It is just a matter of getting used to that. and buying a hand bag too. :? 8)

Of the ten links I listed, the first five were the ones I favored (although price and size precludes any and all of them from my wardrobe - but a boy can dream, can't he?). I could see wearing any of the pinstripe skirts with an un-tucked white shirt and vest of an interesting color or fabric pattern.

Of all the women's skirts I have, only one style has a user-friendly zipper fly - a long corduroy skirt from Alloy.com, which I have in black and tan. (Needless to say, they were bought "on sale"!) I have a Revolt long denim from Alloy that is a nearly identical shape/construction but has a cursed short zipper. Unless a zipper is required to put the garment on/off, you're just as well off with something like a Macabi, since you'll have to hike the skirt front to pee.

I find the first one, Gabi skirt by Ronen Chen very interesting. It looks excellent on a man and the design is special yet not feminine. I wonder what the back looks like?
