A new pair of leggings....

I was at the thrift store browsing when I came across a tiny section titiled "80's spandex". I had to look.

So I looked and saw the usual style of leggings or tights, in various colors fit only for gaudy women, then I looked in the black section looking for the elusive disco jeans I have been looking for for a long time when I happened on a most unusual pair of leggings.

Shiny spandex material, inside seam, so they are not meant for athletic activities, and rear seam. The seam missing was the front. I have never seen a pair of leggings lacking a front seam. So I did what any guy would do...I bought them ($16 bucks)

After looking for a bit more and finding nothing apealing I went home.

When I got home I stripped, and got into a pair of sheer to waist hose for the first test fitting.

When I got them on I was pleasantly surprised that they fit perfectly. The smooth front is also quite nice looking.

I am tempted to let my female room mate have these, since she can wear them to full effect. But what an unusual find.

I just realized. These things may have originally been for men. Why would they make a pair of such things with no front seam? The main problem I have had is that seam. They make shapes not very nice looking. They fit like a glove on me. I do know leggings were considered unisex (still are?) for a time, but not enough men would dare try the style out.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I did not respond previously because I'm here to read about and discuss skirts; leggings are just a distraction and of no interest to me. Sorry.

There was nothing in your post that demanded any response from uninterested parties; why would you expect an insult?

Perhaps you could have phrased that better; maybe "Why's that?" would have done the job.

That's amusing, cause looking at the title of the section it says "Freestyle fashions" under which leggings fall.

Saying it has no interest is understandable, yet it shows how narrow your field of view is concerning fashion freedom.

Leggings have been a part of fashion freedom for many men, just look at the early to mid nineties.

WTF is from my feeling about forums like this with little to no participation, even negative. 101 views and I would at least expect one..one response. Hell posts concerning make up, got more responses in less time.

I think some or most of you need to expand your horizons just a teensy bit, and not limit yourselves. I have tried, and liked. I started with leggings, then discovered skirts,when my girlfriend of the time said I would look good in those too.

If you were so uninterested then why did you view it? That's a curiosity.

Errm, yes! Very much! They're very much 'in vogue' at the moment and succeed in making even attractive young ladies look 'juvenile' or 'ridiculous' depending on their stature - never mind older ladies or chaps! Plus, I can remember some blokes wearing 'em way back in the 70s (to say nothing of comedians from the 40s!).

Where do you come to this lousy conclusion? I think overly tight blue jeans do this, but how do leggings (that are meant to be tight) do this? The jeans look like the person bought the wrong size.

Many things fall inside Freestyle Fashion. Some may interest me others do not. You took the trouble to write to the forum and I had the courtesy to reply the first time I saw the thread, by which time you were moaning that we were not all falling over ourselves to reply to you.

It shows nothing of the sort; all it shows is that I don't find leggings appealing. I don't like them on me, on beautiful women, on guys or anyone else. It's called personal taste, we don't all like the same things.

Maybe by now you've got the message: the majority here are not particularly interested in leggings. Make up may inspire more interest.

I like my horizons just where they are thanks. And in the interests of freedom, it ill behoves you to tell others what they should or should not do. You like wearing leggings, OK that does not bother me, you don't need my approval just wear them and be happy. You'd do yourself a favour (and us too) if you'd leave your attitude at the door when visiting the Café.

I read most things here. I have little interest in baseball, but if someone writes a post about a game, the chances are that I'll read it. Maybe I'll learn something interesting, maybe I won't, but the only way to find out is to read it. Sorry if that does not gel with your assumption of narrow horizons.

The only things I've learned from this thread are:
1) You bought some leggings.
2) You can't bear being ignored.

It is unlikely that I will revisit this thread.

Leaving aside your personal attack, my 'conclusion', as you put it, is based both on observation and listening to other folk's opinions. Because you don't agree, doesn't make it a 'lousy' conclusion - just different! As for your comment on tight jeans - I agree with you - whole-heartedly!

But unless I really want to look like Max Wall, then leggings can stay where they belong - on the retailer's shelf!

If no-one saw fit to post a reply to your thread, it would be safe to assume that most people were simply not much interested - or had nothing to say.
