Fewer Comments when with Wives/GFs?
I wonder if the rest of you guys find the same thing as I do in this regard:
When I'm out kilted and accompanied by my wife, I get far fewer dumb comments then when I'm out kilted by myself. It's possible they think my wife will punch them out if they act stupid, but more likely, I think, that the her presence somehow "legitimizes" my kilt.

Probably
I think you're right on that, at least in my own mind it seems better when I'm with my SO and skirted. (Except at Bingo where I have about 30 mothers and several dads) We just received some new skirts and plan on dinner this coming Saturday night at the Lobster Fest Restaurant. She got me to buy her a tiered crinkle skirt in black last week and she can't wait to wear it out to dinner. She looked so good in it I shopped the Lane Bryant catalog and bought both a coral and a blue tiered crinkle skirts for myself. She helped me shop on Ebay for a straight cotton 31" slip to wear under the 33" crinkle skirts. I bought 2 of the slips and I'll just have to overlook the lacy hems on the slips. After all no one is going to see them except me or her. I'd probably never wear the tiered crinkles the first time without her there to give me moral support. All my previously public skirting was done with straight or A line skirts only, this will be my first outing in a wide or full type skirt. I hope it goes well.

lace
I just think it would be silly to cut it off when no one is going to see it but she and I, and only then prior to finishing dressing for the evening. It's neat tho taking nearly as long to dress as the woman does. Only thing she uses that I don't is her makeup. I have gynecomastia so I wear a bra and that's the only other thing most people would think would be just for the woman. I've been wearing bras since I was about 15 when the gynecomastia started developing bigger breasts for me than any man I'd previously seen and my doctor suggested I wear one to give me support. Since finding the [relevant website deleted thanks to Google] site I now know there are thousands of men with the same problem. Some have them cut off but they usually grow right back on.
That's the only thing that worries me about the tiered crinkle skirts, bra and long hair: is some person calling me ma'am from the rear..I bet if that happens he'll get a red face when a deep voice answers. LOL :cheer:
Come to think of it, he won't see the bra from the rear, and if he looks at the front the mustache should tell him not to call me ma'am. LOLOL

Leave the lace on Skip. Why deny yourself that little bit of pleasure?
I was once called ma'am by a beggar in Wells. It was dark and I was wearing a Utilikilt. He soon changed it to 'boss' when he realised - I'm assuming he wasn't trying to wind me up - but he didn't get any money anyway.

If I want to dress like a woman, I'll wear jeans.

I think that is very true
It's the whole homophobia that much of the (Western) world subscribes to.
I man in a skirt MUST BE gay wehere as a man in a skirt with a woman can't be!
Men, in particular, are terrified as being considered "gay" but as we all know sexuality has nothing to do with fashion.
Most gay men (at least the ones I know) wouldn't be caught dead in a skirt - they want to look as macho as possible. They have a difficult time understanding why I (we) would want to wear a skirt as the average male does.

I love wearing my kilt and in the early days I did get a few comments from kids that live near me, but a few chosen word they shut up and now leave me alone, but wearing a skirt outside I would get fun taken out of me from both sexes.
I don't class my self as gay or cross dresser, I have not been in a heterosexual relationship since my divorce some 17 years past, and have had 2 one night stands with the same sex, but I do class myself as just a normal guy in the street wanting to be able to wear a skirt in public as they are far cheaper than Kilts and one can throw them in the washing machine and wash them.
Oh to be as free as some on the members here.

Just do it !!
I think men don't fight for "their" rights like women do and did in the past. The reason why society today accepts all kinds of clothes on women is, because they fought for it. They just did it!!
Men are cowards! 1st they ask themselves all the time if it is ok what they do..what might friends think..the family...the wife. Then the fear to be labeled as GAY, which really makes some guys REALLY uncomfy. Just do it and stop defending yourself all the time

That's the spirit, me012247, wear the kilt/skirt out and about and wear the opposition down!
I've been kilting around various towns in my area for weeks now - sometimes I even forget I'm wearing it, save for the mellow mood it puts me in.
Gradually, it is becoming less of a conversation piece, at least among people I meet regularly. I may live to eat those words of course, but let's hope not.

Twice when out with my SO, we have been accosted from the back by salespeople saying, the equivalent of, "Can I help you ladies?" When I have turned, one saleslady was so flustered the WE had to put HER back at ease. The other, a man at a street market was much less embarrased and laughed it off. He came from an alternative area where nearly anything goes.
The only other comment, at an alternative market while skirted was a query as to where I got the anti nuclear power T shirt I was wearing.
