Last year Hot Topic was selling long skirts for guys.. They also had a gothed-out utilikilt knock-off. The significance is of course that Hot Topic, as alternative as they try to present themselves as, is as much a staple of mainstream mall shops as The GAP and Old Navy.

The funny thing about the men's skirts is that they did not call them skirts.

The male ego is so fragile that alternative names must be used in order to gain acceptance for non-bifurcated garments. Some retailers uses names other than skirt, some retailers use excessively macho terminology to convince would-be buyers how it is actually more macho to wear a non-bifurcated garment.

What did Hot Topic call their skirts for guys?

"One-legged pants"

I kid you not.

One legged pant

Post by Since1982 »

heh...My definition of a "one legged pant" would be hopping around on one leg staring at a hot hot hottie and panting, slavering and drooling. :cheer:

Is this the Hot Topic "One legged pant"?

Looks like something my granny might have chosen (if she'd been blind). That's certainly not a look I'd go for.

Have fun,

Ian.

No that wasn't it. I looked for a pic but i couldn't find one. The one from Hot Topic was all black with lots of chains and buckles. Very goth.

Thanks for the pic, Dragonslain.

I think I can safely say that my granny would not wear that one! Come to think of it, neither would I. :shake:

there are several versions of the one-legged pant, i own a few.

the general design is:

ankle length (40+")
lots of large pockets
removable bondage chains or straps
heavy-duty cotton or pvc "pleather"

makes you feel like "pinhead" from the hellraiser movies

too long & heavy for most, but fits my style on most days

Action movies

Post by Since1982 »

In the last year, I've watched a few "different" type action movies. "The 13th Warrior" and the latest in the "Underworld" series both have actor Tony Curran in them. Either Tony Curran is a skirt wearing man or the casting directors like Tony's "look" wearing a skirt or kilt. In the Viking movie "13th Warrior" starring Antonio Bandaras, Tony Curran played a combination Scottish/Barbarian looking Viking and in "Underworld" starring Kate Bekinsale and Scott Speedman Tony Curran played the arch evil villian vampire King who flew barebacked while wearing a very "goth" looking ankle length black skirt. :shifty: :cheer:
