thanks
I often find myself a bit on the timid side myself so your insight was helpful. Thanks

Ahhh . . . those were the days!. . when I applied for a visa to visit USA in 1987 I was refused on the basis that I had travelled to East Berlin as a member of a student union which was affiliated to the Communist party back in 1972.
When just being a member of the NUS was enough to brand you as degenerate commie scum. I wonder what they would have done if you told them that you wore a skirt!
Guantanamo, probably.

It's never too late to have a happy childhood . . .

That happens every time we have Republican in the White House. They don't give a rat's ass about ten million Mexicans wading the Rio Grande, but let one leftie try to come in and it's "Katie, bar the door!"ChristopherJ wrote:Ahhh . . . those were the days!

3 years now
I've been wearing skirts all the time for about 3 years now and the rare time I put on my only pair of cutoff jeans, I, within no more than 30 minutes remember why I stopped wearing them at all. Specially if I have to sit for any long period of time. The constant standing to shake out the plumbing reminds me how much more comfortable I'd be in a nice comfy skirt.
Today, we are having our first real cold day this year and I'm sitting at the computer in a long sleeved heavy duty sweatshirt and an ankle length black twill nearly full skirt with a couple of ankle length "underskirts"(we're not supposed to say the real name of this kind of underskirt at this site, so I say "underskirt" instead) underneath. Very warm and comfy. You can tell my maleness by the same old vinyl imitation leather loafers/white wool sox peeping out from under my hem.:cheer: :cheer:

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

I have to say that I loved my trip around the U.S. in 1982, but wouldn't dream of going there now. The Bush administration is one of the most sinister outfits since the James boys ruled the west. Also, watch your second amendment. Australia, I believe, was a test bed for a firearm grab over there. Here nearly all law abiding people have been disarmed; gun crime has increased and there is even talk that some crime gangs have rocket launchers. Oh how safe I feel here knowing that the police are only forty five minutes away

Whilst, yes, the (second) Bush regime is the worst in many folks' living memories (some of these characters make Nixon look like a saint!) the US isn't really all that bad. The Bush regime is more of a symptom than the disease, and I dearly hope we can relieve ourselves of the symptom come 2008. Unfortunately, we can't get at the disease without destroying our Constitution (which the disease will eventually, anyway -- it's a lovely scenario).Sarongman wrote:I have to say that I loved my trip around the U.S. in 1982, but wouldn't dream of going there now. It's not so much the second amandment I worry about, it's the rest of the first ten -- especially the fourth and fifth, and somewhat the first. All of those have been seriously eroded to the point where they're largely null and void. Fortunately, the second has some very powerful, very influential, champions.Sarongman wrote:Also, watch your second amendment. Australia,
Interestingly, this is one place where the otherwise prescient "founding fathers" fell on their face. The first ten amendments (the so-called "Bill of Rights") should have been embodied in the main text, not shoved off into an addendum. Amendments are fairly easy to get enacted (and repealed, viz. "Prohibition"), and that can be used for really pernicious ends. The other thing is is that the current regime simply ignores the law -- in ways that would have made previous administrations blush (viz. R. M. Nixon and his crew). Before now the ne'er-do-wells had to resort to conspiracy and underhandedness -- this lot just unilaterally declare their actions "legal" and go about it in broad daylight.
What's this got to do with guys in skirts? Not much, actually, but at least where I live there seem to be no prohibitions about guys wearing them (come to think about it, there actually might be, but such a statute would be classed as a "Blue Law" and would probably be ignored -- if anyone knew about it -- instead of being repealed), so I'll wear mine until somebody can quote chapter and section of the General Laws and I can verify the text of the law.

the US isn't really all that bad.Sorry! I didn't mean it to sound like a tirade against the American people who were (and I'm sure still are) open, friendly and welcoming every inch of the way. I don't think I really met any rude. surly or negative people at any time,( though know they are there) but I still worry over the power of the Administration and the beaurocracy in the Bush era, and are they going to be so entrenched that even if Barak or Hilary get the top job, they are unstoppable? Your point is well taken over all your amendments and the constitution. I worry about our P.M. who is a great pal of Dubya, it's frightening. I do have a bumper sticker wnich I got from the U.S. which reads "I love my country, It's the government I'm afraid of!"
