Asymmetrical maxi skirt

Post by DrFishnets »

I bought myself a lovely asymmetrical maxi skirt today from my local cancer research charity shop. I really love the style of it. At one side the skirt goes down to my knee and on the other side it goes down to my ankles. Have any fellow MIS in the cafe worn those kinds of skirts.

Here is one I think I shared photos of a couple of times: https://photos.app.goo.gl/cHUdtLQjr2TKpgXE8

As it is one one of my skirts that tends to grab attention, I am not completely comfortable in it, yet I do like it and tend to get compliments when I wear it.

hey Grok, here is another that I have been wearing today -- not truly asymmetrical, but similar in some respects -- one of those "inside/out" skirts that can be worn both ways; two thin layers of print that more or less compliment each other but give a somewhat different look and color. [Speaking of color, it was 'enhanced' by the cell and came out much brighter in the red/green tones than the browner ones it is} So, if you look closely at the hem you will see two levels and a not straight hem. This gets far less notice than the more dramatic asymmetrical ones.

Sorry, I tried Mouse's device at Meeting this morning and came back with nothing -- after a couple of attempts here I gave up, figured it needed a battery already, and did a quick selfie in the LR, only to discover later when I went to replace the battery there is a dinky "on/off" switch. Maybe next time!

I’m slightly baffled here but was that reply for me or Grok as I was the original poster talking about buying the asymmetrical skirt but you mentioned Grok’s name.

Anyway, I went out today into town wearing the asymmetrical skirt and got one or two looks but nothing else. I felt a bit awkward too but everything was fine.

No, DFN -- only my careless reading; but I'm glad you enjoyed the opportunity to wear the asymmetrical hem line. I'm not sure what it is, but I am somewhat more aware of the couple skirts I have with the clearly asymmetrical hems -- yet I usually get more consistent compliments on them, the more "conventional" hemmed skirts. They can be fun.

Hola DFN: Second attempt here --- The weatherman was predicting a pleasant warm day, so I grabbed a lightweight skirt that is snug enough on top and loose enough on the bottom to be very comfy to wear in such weather; and only upon getting it on did I realize it is another of my asymmetrical hemline skirts. It is pretty straight on top to about 3-4" above the knee, then flares -- with the asymmetrical hemline enhancing the effect. It typical gets compliments, although I don't recall any from men on it as they have a hard time with so-called "feminine" skirts, and seem to reserve their compliments for more conventional or blah items. Anyway, I took "Mouse's" remote and was headed out to the yard where I was being beckoned by an unusual bird call, thinking I'd take a selfie for you; but my wife caught me unawares, frowning open-mouthed into the avocado tree -- so here is a candid for you: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EXqnZWKqGQoboeTR6

Haha nice one Faldaguy :) Cheers for the photo. I really like the look of that skirt you are wearing. The hems are similar to a snake print skirt I bought from my local Tescos supermarket.

I’m going to be getting a sewing machine and Mouse showed me a video of a woman wearing an asymmetrical skirt and how it was made which is basically cutting material into a big square. I’m going to be making myself my own asymmetrical skirt once my sewing machine arrives.

I wear a lot of “feminine” skirts and I personally don’t care what other people think. I find the materials used on feminine style skirts more comfortable.
