Sightings "in the wild"

Downtown Toronto for a show this evening. Saw a young (early 20s?) man on a skateboard with a knee length flowing skirt. Muted black & blue colours, but with a polkadot type pattern. Also his hair in a small "man-bun".

In general he looked right at home - great to see!

I sometimes wear a bun.. my bun, nobody elses. At the moment I just tie it back, at at night let it out. Like Seb, my hair is down to the small of my back..

I saw a couple of guys wearing kilts whilst walking around my local town today! They were tartan kilts but were definitely being worn casually and were not dressed up for a special occasion!

I went shopping at Lidl supermarket for a change. I was dressed in my usual long tiered skirt, a pair of black fishnet tights, Doc Marten boots with long black socks and tank top with black waistcoat. Whilst there I seen a guy about late 20s wearing mini skirt, black ripped fishnet tights and Doc Marten boots. It was good to see another guy wearing.

I hadn't thought to report on this when I first saw it last year as it seemed to fall under the "Halloween" category, but maybe not.

I attend a lot of sports games at the local high school here in rural South Dakota. Last year, at one of the girls' basketball games, several of the male students from the visiting school were wearing skirts. And again this past week, I saw one male student from the visiting school (different school) wearing a skirt. There may have been more, but the stands were crowded so I couldn't see everyone.

Regarding this last sighting (and most of the others last year), the student was wearing a green skirt, thigh length. He had a pair of shorts on underneath, the legs of the shorts being clearly visible as they protruded beneath the hem of the skirt. That seems to be typical (though not universal) for this activity).

Now, when I was in Washington state, for many years (again attending lots of school sports games), I never saw any guys wearing skirts to the girls' games. Repeat: never. Is this a new phenomenon? Will it grow in scope? What does is mean, if anything?

I totally approve. If it is how they first (or second, or third) experience, to some extent, wearing a skirt, then good for them.

Ostensibly they are supporting the girls team by sporting its colors. But there may be more to it than that. I think quite a few boys would like to try skirts but strong social pressures prevent them unless they can contrive a justification. A few years ago it was to support girls rights. If there could be a skirt day or week or even month like Pride month or Black History month I think boys would go along. Could be a gender equality month. That would be an easier sell to the general public.

Seen yesterday around 5pm in Bromley High Street, tall young man in charcoal grey sweater and long flowing skirt, black with swirly white pattern.

Tempted to point him out to Mrs GB, but she wouldn’t have been able to see him, and it would have drawn unnecessary attention in a crowded street.
