Men’s skirts article

Post by steamman »

Not the best article, but it highlights some of the sources of objection to men wearing skirts. What these people don’t realise is that it’s none of their business what anyone else chooses to wear. Women had this nonsense 100 years ago with trousers. They just did it anyway.

"They just did it anyway" is a bit fo an understatement. Women actually went to jail and faced a tremendous amount of social pressure to conform. It's high time men followed their example and pushed for their own fashion freedom.

It's an article that could definitely be improved, since it quotes the opposition, and only the opposition. The blogger notes the support, but doesn't cite or quote anyone who's in favor of men's skirts. It's also remarkably inadequate in terms of how short of a read it is, because this is a controversial and complicated topic with a broad layer of opinions to draw from. I know it's a blog, but still.

Also, the blogger cites Twitter (not going to call it "X"; **** Elon Musk for rebranding it with such an idiotic name change), and showcases some brainlet going off about "fashion trying too hard to be 'woke'", which further cements Twitter as a menagerie of clueless far/alt right ideologues who want to be as "anti-woke" as possible when they can't even give a consistent definition of the thing they're rallying against. They just call anything they don't like as "woke" for no reason. It's worse than decrying everything as "SJW" or "PC".

The majority of men are "pack animals" and would never push for fashion freedom. They were taught to be pack animals from very early childhood. Women have always been more individualistic and were taught to embrace their individualism.

This could apply to women as well, because most humans are like that, regardless of sex. I've no idea why you think women aren't conditioned in the same way at that very same age. As if society doesn't expect them to adhere to rigid expectations and norms because of the way they were born.
Women have always been more individualistic and were taught to embrace their individualism.
That's just simply false on both accounts because women had less rights and were considered lesser than men for the majority of human history across the vase expanse of human cultures. It's the same today in certain third-world sinkholes. Women being taught to "embrace their individualism" is a relatively recent development brought on by feminism.
