Sporty Ballet Shoes

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Sporty Ballet Shoes

Post by DrFishnets »

I got a nice pair of black sporty ballet shoes from my local Asda. I am usually a mens UK size 11 in shoes but was pleasantly surprised when those ballet shoes which are a women’s UK size 9 fit me perfectly. They look great with fishnets and sheer black tights or bare.

Nice shoes, you made a good find. Do the shoes have an identifiable brand?

The brand are George which are UK supermarket Asda’s clothing and shoe brand.

I like those shoes. Too bad I'm in the USA because I would like to try them on to find the ones that fit me best.

Checked in the shoe section of my local Tescos and found these. Same knitted type material, but heavier and termed a slip-on trainer.

I presume the knitted look is in fashion at the moment in some place.

Those Tesco slip-on trainers look nearly the same as the Sketchers I wear all the time. (When I'm not wearing Reef flip-flops, of course.)

When I viewed the first picture, I thought, Mary Jane's as a sneaker(trainer).

They're also called Ballet Sneakers. Ballet Sneakers Are Trending for Spring

The "George" brand is a private label for Asda, a company purchased by Walmart.
I have several 'George' brand shirts. Sadly, the George brand of women's clothing
did not fair well in the U. S. and/or Canada. It has been phased out, only keeping
the men's clothing line, in the Walmart stores.

Still is an interesting picture of/for a 'Sneaker/Trainer' :)

I have been eying these for a few weeks too, looks similar. They look comfy and easy to use for the days in just out driving and walking short distances to/from the car.

I have always loved sporty ballet flats. I wore Skechers for many years and still have a couple of pair that have not fully worn out yet.

More recently I wear Tieks almost every day. I still consider them sporty because of the blue stripe in back and soles.

I do like your Tieks and have my eye on some of their great colours. However, I was not sure I could afford a pair. I was also unsure about shipping charges to the UK and what size would fit my feet, given that fit is important for the shoes to stay on your feet.

So not to miss out, I did the next best thing and consulted Amazon. I found this pair which took my fancy, especially sporting a back zip, which for some reason always floats my boat. It also gave me a chance to add to my blue shoe/boot collection, since my blue handbag gets left on the shelf with my lack of blue shoes! I know they are not strict ballet shoes, but to me they are close. They arrived today and I am very pleased with them, they are on my feet as I type!
