One report I heard from Hawaii was how well the early warning system worked this time.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

My wife, who's currently at her hometown in the Philippines told me that while they did hear about the quake, there was no tsunami warning there.

I was in the Philippines myself in 2012 when a 7.6 struck, we were about 150km away from the epicentre, no tsunami threat but it rocked and rolled for about 45 seconds.
