I like this picture...

Post by Mouse »

So the internet served up this picture in an advert to me...
Image
I just loved everything about it, the dress is great, the model is great, sunlit back ground sets the scene, well done to all who contributed to making the image......End of story move on.....

The crazy part of my brain, however, logged the dress and when the same advert popped up a few days later, a mouse click was made....

Turns out, this is a company called Newevers based in Latvia, one of the three baltic states. Browsing their website reveals more loverly dresses worn by the same model and all looking great. Adding to the pitch, there was a sale on. The dress my crazy brain picked out for consideration was this one...
Image
My logic went as follows...I have a cream knitted skirt all ready...I like shaded colour and I like blue....I don't have breasts, some of the designs need breasts to make the design work....The octopus design is fun...It is just a long jumper...A crew neck is better on me.

The more sensible part of my brain was arguing that it was too short, too pretty, would never fit in the Mouse style, too crazy and many other sensible reasons.

Over a month, the internal argument carried on. In the end an agreement was made that if I finished a pile of paper work, we could may be order the dress if we still liked it.

Dress was ordered yesterday.

I really love that dress too. I adore the designs on it and the style. I’d buy that dress in a heartbeat if it was purple mixed with black and would look great with leggings or even tights with long socks. It is indeed a lovely photo too. :D

Good luck - and please post pictures of it when it arrives. I know it is a bit late but I would be highly skeptical of that site for a variety of reasons:

1) Pictures look AI generated
2) Sometimes these companies sell what look like knitted items but they end up being poor quality prints (ie, dye-sub) and not knitwear
3) Prices are way too good to be true for what they are selling

I'm not saying to panic or to cancel the order or anything like that - just trying to potentially warn others until you get what you ordered.

Don't despair - but also - reality - unfortunately. I am morbidly curious at what arrives. I ordered a pair of boots from a company like this before and they were laughably bad. Learned my lesson then.

I've even heard of horror stories about semi-legitimate retailers like Temu - where someone will order a cordless drill for $3.50 and they will receive a picture of the drill. When they try to get a refund, they are denied.

It's frustrating.

One small story... saw a sweater I liked (machine knit) but it was too expensive. Went to the local yarn shop and priced out making it myself - would have cost as much or more. Haven't bought the sweater or yarn, but again it makes me much more appreciative of how much well made things cost.

I also really like the dress. I would wear it. I'm looking forward to the photos.
Might be AI though.

Haven't we all at one point or another?
My misgiving would be based on the price, too good to be true, or;

I love the look too.

I too will be watching for the 'real' thing on Mouse; but I too fear it may be less than promoted -- the extreme depth of their offerings don't tally with the small outfit presentation -- but regardless you've had a nice fantasy and a lovely image in your head for a while! BTW -- I like your "thinking it out style"! :D

A good example, I think, that women have something. men don't have, including their ability to wear something, we shouldn't.

I would hazard a guess that they are a reseller of Chinese clothes, just judging on the price for the work that would have to go into making one of these. When you look at items that are just different colour variations of the same piece, you can see that the model is in the exact same pose(down to the strands of hair hanging exactly the same) so some sort of post processing is definitely at work. They do have a LOT of very nice dresses I would wear in a heartbeat though, looking forward to seeing what ships your way!

My experiences with Temu have been positive. For example, I bought some "thorn-proof" leather gloves. The first day I used them in pruning blackberries, it became obvious they were far from thorn-proof. I let them know and got a full refund, and they said to keep the gloves. They are currently my wife's favorite gloves for rough work.

The first thing I thought of when looking critically at those images was, "CGI" (computer-generated imagery) which is a component now of A"I". Just too perfect.
