I spent the afternoon in Birmingham yesterday for a concert, treating myself to a Chinese buffet beforehand.

Wore a black tennis skirt, red patterned t-shirt and black trainers.

Would definitely say that I was noticed during my visit, with two comments, one positive and the other negative:

Positive comment - “I like your skirt” from a woman walking past me in the train station

Negative comment - “You know you’re a bloke, right” from a man when walking over to the Chinese buffet.

Other than that, just had the usual double takes and occasional funny look.

Would say that it was a positive trip in total, with no issues at all during the concert where I sat surrounded by people ( mostly women) for about three and a half hours.

Also ended up trying on the following dress in River Island during my visit. Was a bit tricky doing up the zip at the back but ultimately looked ok and good to know that I fit into a size 14 now. If I wasn’t going to a concert at the time, may have been tempted if I could figure out how to make an outfit work with it.

Dress is interesting, having a number of military type features. Brave trying it on!

I am sorry you got a negative comment, but I guess it was just a question, did you give him an answer? "Yes. It was such a warm day, I thought a skirt was just right!"

I am pleased the concert was good and you had a fun time.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

I went to several small boutiques looking for a new skirt. With spring and summer coming up, I was expecting a better selection than what I found. With only one or two styles to chose from, and most of them in smaller sizes, I was not able to find anything I liked.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was wearing a black denim skirt and tee shirt.

I love the dress and would wear that myself! How to make it work? If it was me, a pair of thigh high boots with high heels. Or just a pair of court shoes. Fully shaved legs a must.

It’s definitely an interesting dress. Something about the way it looked in the shop and me being curious as to whether a size 14 would fit me led me to end up going for it and trying it on. Think wearing a skirt at the time helped with confidence in a way and the smile the lady manning the fitting room gave when I turned up asking to try it on.

In terms of the comment, at the time I just said “ yeah I know” and carried on walking. Probably the first direct negative I’ve had but would say that I’ve had more positive comments, all from women, and aim to appear confident and not let what others think affect me.

Boots definitely sound like they'll work well with it. I've always stuck to trainers in the past but always open to trying new things. Did think that perhaps a leather jacket would look good with this dress too.

I'm yet to shave my legs due to the mindset that I haven't needed to when wearing shorts but with wearing tights, particularly the 40 denier ones I wore yesterday, can definitely see the benefit of shaving legs. Think i'll give it a go, the hair will always grow back if I don't like it!

Must admit that i'm also tempted, my mind keeps coming back to it! A lot different to what I've worn previously so would be a big step outside the comfort zone wearing it in public.

Once you get rid of the 'hairy legs', you'll wonder why you waited so long.
A personal suggestion is to use a cream hair remover, similar to the products Veet or Nair.
IMHO, Nair has a tendency to irritate(or burn) my skin where as the Veet product doesn't.
Also, the cream hair remover saves nicks & cuts to your skin. Takes about the same amount
of time using the product, as shaving, but removing the cream involves a pleasant shower :D

FYI - My compression hose stays up longer with hairless legs.
Before the hairless legs, I was continually pulling up the hose.

I’ve been using a Braun epilator for the last couple of years, bit stingy the first time but gets easier with every go and leaves the legs very smooth.

I still use an epilator, but only occasionally need it after using an IPL. The IPL needed regular use at first but now only a top up once or twice a year. I usually epilate a couple of weeks beforehand.

Prior to getting the IPL I had to epilate weekly.

I’ve been thinking about an IPL but some of my leg hairs are quite fair. I do have fair skin though. Do you think it would work?

Just having breakfast at a stopover at a chain hotel in mid France about to make the run to the tunnel. A warm sunny morning so have dispensed with any hose and just enjoying the comfortable feeling of wearing a skirt. Not sure it gets better than this tbh.

They act on melanin in the hair. As it is less abundant in fair hair, I believe they don’t work as well as with darker hair. You would need to check this with the manufacturer or seller. Caution is needed, as they are not cheap and are among the categories of products where there is no right of return once used.

Yesterday my wife and I were at one of the thousands of Hands Off rallies. We were in Princeton, Illinois. There were over 200 attending, about 3% of Bureau County's largest city. Hundreds more honked in support as we lined Main Street. Although females were a significant majority of the crowd, more men than women had skirts or dresses. That's one man, me, and no one else. I had on a denim dress with a sweater and plaid flannel shirt on top. I made a list of about 80 different signs I saw.

Good on you Jim. Given the completely lawless way people are being kidnapped by disguised armed goons without warrant, ID, or badges and in unmarked cars-- the choice of pants makes sense. 3% is getting to tipping point for effective protests -- likely the next won't be ignored; rough tactics will be employed -- so I'd be circumspect about where in the world at large I'd be out and about.
