Changing Skirts.....in a day

Post by Mouse »

At the end of yesterday, I realised that I had worn four different skirts during the day and it started me thinking about my days in trousers, where I can't think of, or remember a day, where four pairs of different trousers would have been worn.

So the day started with me in a long blue skirt that swept the floor, then I wanted to do some DIY, so I swapped the long blue for a knee length blue skirt. Later in the day, it was decided we should go out for a late lunch, so a fun going out skirt was required, step forward my bright orange layered ruffles skirt. Much later in the day, when the temperature had dropped, a quick shopping trip to the local Tescos was required, so out with my woolen knitted long skirt to keep me warmer for the trip. Four skirts, each fun to wear and just right for each phase of the day.

So I think there are two ways of looking at this.
1. Trousers are more versatile for many different tasks in the day, so one pair should deal with your entire day.
2. Skirts are so fun to wear and different skirts are great for different situations, that changes are fun and interesting.

For me, 1. is staid, sensible and deeply boring. While 2. is fun, interesting and fascinating.

It depends on what you name "trousers", but to my own opinion the first option you propose is "not so true".
Today, if I include the pijama that I'm wearing, I reach 4: the pijama for sleeping and spending time at home (for hygiene I would better avoir wearing the pijama during night AND the whole day), trainings for workout, one pair of trousers for building a greenhouse (I always use that same one for such construction/renovation work, to keep all others safe), and a last one when going to my brother's home. Had I have to do any errand, I would have reached five since the one to go my brother's home is a destroyed one (that I often repair) so that his dog doesn't destroy another one, and that's not how I like to present to people. I could reach six by taking a bit more care to wear something else than my pijama during the day when being at home.

I think that the clothing change highly depends on the activities you're doing. Using 4 trousers a day, is not rare with me, since I do workouts most days and I often do renovation work (still a lot to do).

Because you actually know that you have the freedom to make that choice Mouse.
However, the "fun" part may have been negated by a choice of one skirt which could make for an unpleasantly "interesting" day.
I could have done 3 or 4 pairs of trousers in a day, work, DIY/gardening, casual (pub) and formal (suited and booted).
Apart from getting a bit tipsy, I did not regard that as much fun as skirts at all.
Steve.

Friday, I wore three different skirts while doing garden work. First I had an ankle length skirt, then as it got hotter a knee length skirt, and then it got hotter so I wore a 12" skirt. Then it got hotter so I wore nothing but shoes and socks.

Yesterday I wore a summery dress in three ways. I started with a velvety shirt over it for church. No one there has bare shoulders and I didn't feel like standing out too much. My wife said it was pretty, and I talked with another woman friend who liked it, but encouraged me to let the whole dress show. I didn't.

After church I had a few errands to do in the village, and I just had on the dress.

In the afternoon I went to a hymn sing, again a place where no one had bare shoulders. I wore a guayabera, a Cuban-style short-sleeve shirt, over the top.

Jim, I love how you rock. I had not counted the zero length skirt in my calculations, but obviously it is an option in your heat.

I think your dress is loverly, with the whole range of colours on a purple background. Quite odd how the church folk can't tolerate the odd bare shoulder. My mother was the same, she would criticise any woman with bare shoulders outside of church, never mind inside church. All very odd.

It’s also much easier to change when wearing a skirt or dress, as you don’t have to take your shoes off.

I wear trousers for two reasons, to forget about them or because i have too. If its the second reason, i feel a bit sad.

I'm not putting the bare-shoulder thing on others. I just didn't feel like being that different.

Other than functional needs, my primary motivator is mood and events. Where we live the temperature varies little so that is usually a secondary consideration -- but enough that I often slip into something warmer in the evening -- or perhaps only add a heavy shirt or sweater. But if I've forgotten an event, then it may be a third change though I confess to being lazy and sticking with what I'm wearing unless it seems quite inappropriate -- and since there are few things that hold that much import in my mind -- well, I sometimes end up in items others may consider a bit 'out of touch'. Ah well.
Technically, I think I can match Mouse's day count of 4, but 'tis rather rare, and likely due to a late night out invite.

The main reason I wear skirts (or dresses) is because I find them very comfortable compared to trousers or jeans. When I go out for my daily walks I like to wear leggings or tights as a substitute for trousers and jeans as I find trousers and jeans very restricted on my knees. I usually wear leggings or tights with a t-shirt mini dress.

When I go out shopping I usually get very adventurous and don a pair of ripped tights, leggings or fishnets with my Doc Martens and black tiered skirt for that goth girl looks which I adore. I wear a different skirt every day whereas when I wore trousers I’d wear the same pair for a couple of days.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist. 8)

Sometimes one skirt a day just isn't enough!
