I wore a tie for the first time in long while on Christmas day. It was a gift from my granddaughter and was a holiday design. I never cinched it up and only wore it for an hour or so.

Bola tie

For the first time, yesterday, I tried wearing a (borrowed) bola tie.

I found it much more comfortable to wear than a traditional neck tie. A bola tie can look good without being cinched completely tight, relieving the constriction that I associate with traditional neck ties.

I wore it to my mother's funeral service. People commented that they liked the cat ornament on the slide-I explained that my mother loved cats.

For your consideration. Western Bow Tie. During childhood I wore bow ties, as well as standard neckties, all of which were dull. But these are a bit more interesting.

There is no reason to wear a necktie if you don’t want to. Women wear suits that are identical to men’s suits with no necktie and are they not forced to wear neckties. There is no reason to have a piece of fabric tied around your neck that is a phallic symbol pointing to your dick simply because you are male. It makes no sense.

This is one area I don't think I have to worry much. In my profession, neck ties are simply not part of the culture, even in the office roles.

In my leisure, I'm hardly one to visit places where a neck tie would be required.

Ironically, that is one part of the UK equality/discrimination legislation which acts in favour of men.
Legally we cannot be required to because women are not, simple!
That's the theory and it partially holds but convention in many areas still rules unchanged.

If I were to ever purchase a tie, I think it would be a bolo tie. Easy to wear. As for a version with semi-precious stone, I might go with turquoise (blue) or agate (red).

Ok i’ll bite. So what do you think about a woman like Kaamala Harris at the state of the union address wearing the exact same business suit as Joe Biden and not wearing a necktie? Does she look stupid because she didn’t wear a necktie? If the outfits are identical, the tie requirement seems to be based on the biological sex of the individual. This is WRONG!

I hate neckties because they are forced on men! Women used to have a pantyhose requirement, but they rebelled and the requirement is now history. Men should stand-up for their rights regarding clothing and attire equality. Men are their own worst enemies because they prevent men’s fashion from evolving and keep it stuck 80 years in the past. Many Hollywood men at black tie events such as the Oscars and Golden Globes have chosen to omit the necktie and wear a necklace instead of a tie.

At no point in my life have I ever been required to wear a tie. I have worn a few on occasion though, and like Ray, I like the look on me.

As for Biden, he's just an old school politician, he also staples his skin to the back of his head to try to look younger...

It's old school vanity, and as the Democratic party has found it, it's no longer working to win the hearts of the people. Look at Elon, I'm betting he won't be wearing ties very often, certainly not if he doesn't want to. He's the wealthiest man in the world, so nobody is going to push him around. The Zuck is still wearing hoodies, and I'm sure he'll have a seat at the big man's house.

So no I don't think ties are the mark of a successful, charismatic man anymore, those days are over.

I think it's kind of sad though. I like to wear my skirts and dresses, but there's still something to be said for a sharp dressed man. I've worn some nice dressy (men's) clothes once in a while, and I love the way I feel when I'm out and about.

As for Kamala, she obviously didn't get the DEI memo!
