It's just come to my attention that some early kilts were pleated all around. This could be a venue of interest for those wanting a more skirt like kilt, while still be able to claim it's a kilt for those who are shy about skirting in public. I may try to recreate it.

Correct. FL Breezy and it really is just a skirt by any other name.
The "early" illustrations are prototypes for what is accepted as a kilt these days.
They as far removed from the original kilt of the Scottish Highlander as could possibly be imagined.
One of the reasons that Scots Men cannot come to terms with the kilt as a skirt is the ignorance surrounding the thing in the first place.

it doesn't even have to be plaid, I had people compliment my "kilt" that was an a line knee skirt that had sort of a tye-dye pattern.

I've lately been asked the same question when wearing my black Skirtcraft skirt. But, as has oft been pointed out in this café, it usually means that the questioner wants to pass a compliment without any implied accusation of cross-dressing, etc.

Haha, yep, a kilt is definitely a whole different level! Who would’ve thought it was such an important distinction?

Welcome Skibbi to the cafe. Here you will find many men who like to wear skirts. Some just wear kilts, while others wear a full range of skirts from mini to long. Kilts are a type of skirt, but for some who just want to wear kilts, it is important that what they wear is a kilt, however they define a kilt. You should defiantly have ago. I learnt a lot about the kilt by having ago at making two kilts. The satisfaction of wearing your creation is also very rewarding. So we wait to see pictures of your creation in the fullness of time.
