Does anyone plan out their outfits?

Post by Coder »

I've been going to the office more frequently as of late, and so have started putting together the next week's outfits a week ahead of time. I've found it helps reduce some anxiety I've had about skirting in - mainly the "what do I wear" question that usually gets resolved the night before at 11pm. Since the sheer number of combinations - shoes+legwear (winter)+skirt+top+watch+accessory (ie, belt, bag, etc...)=>(regular day/event) - tend to overwhelm me, this has been a welcome practice.

Anyone else do this? As usual I tend to overthink/overdo things, but what's nice about this is I can spend part of an evening assembling combinations and then hang everything together so all that's left for the next week is to grab the correct set of clothes each morning.

I have a hard time planning that detailed so far ahead. I usually pull things out the evening before when I put my daughter to bed at 7-8pm so I don't have to stress it.

Before it was never a big deal, just grab whether was in the top of the pile to replace any items going into the wash, then wear them until they needed to be washed. Clean clothes went to the bottom of the pile so id cycle through them all.

In happy for the few minutes of thinking of what I want to wear the next day, and this way I can make sure its also appropriate for tomorrow weather.

Thats never been my style. When I traveled on business I would pack for a business trip on the morning of the trip and be out 2 to 4 weeks on a trip.

When I buy a skirt I usually put together an Outfit. The odds of me ever actually wearing that combination as a outfit is quite low since I'm picking from the closet as I dress.

We all have out different styles.

Oh, yes, I plan in advance what I wear for an outing, often a day or so before, usually after I've decided where I intend to go. And that planning includes footwear, handbag, even earrings as well. To me, that's great fun.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.

Yes, but always with room for adaptation and ad lib.
A major advantage of being a dude in a skirt is the choice available.
Be as buttoned up and coordinated or as jarringly eclectic as your heart desires and wallet allows.
Above all, have fun and enjoy!

Yeah - there is something satisfying about having everything all ready to go.

Agreed! Although so far I've stuck to my planning, I have added in some variety. For instance, making a decision on which boots to wear the day of rather than the weekend before.

Obviously local weather conditions will dictate attire - however in my neck of the woods it's generally cold right now with a side of cold, making specific decisions about appropriateness for the climate easy. During transitional times, then it might be 70 F one day, 40 F the next. I'm not certain how I'll allow for those but it will be a mild challenge.

As I have an anxiety disorder I wake up early in the morning feeling anxious and restless. However, one thing that I find helps me is lying there planning on what skirts, dresses and tights to wear and having a mental image of what I’ll look like and how they feel on me. This is great therapy and I’m able to get back to sleep again.

Depends on the period I'm in. I have periods where I "plan" during the week-end or eventually at the end of the week what I'll wear next week, and other periods (like I'm in now) where I'm in goblin mode, doing no plan because I'm not willing to take any care of how I'm dressed, and putting on the drab clothes I have (but I sometimes choose the colour from drab variations). Pijama is not acceptable as an outside attire otherwise I would often go that way.

For work I have a basic standard set of clothes to which I add a skirt, hosiery and footwear, to suit weather, client site and who I may be meeting. The rest of the time I pick something I want to wear and then add other things from my wardrobe to make something up which I find such fun.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

I probably plan on 3 levels:

1. Seasonally, I have limited easy access storage space that I usually pull out a selection of clothing for the coming summer or winter.
2. Travelling, I will choose some outfits for a trip away depending on weather and what I will be doing.
3. The night before, if I am on a shopping trip leaving early in the morning I will choose an outfit for the day depending on weather and mood.
