Kimono exhibition at the V&A
I visited the V&A today as they are holding an exhibition for Japanese Kimonos and I really enjoyed my visit. I went there dressed in my kimono style black coat, maroon waistcoat and a knee length purple skirt with black tights and maroon Doc Marten boots.
There were very nice kimonos on display and some of the mens styles included long skirts. I visited the shop where they were selling kimonos but they didn’t have my size. Anyway it was a great day out and nobody batted an eyelid while I was wearing a skirt.

My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist.

Oh well
It doesn’t look like the Japanese kimono and the exhibition is of any interest to the skirt cafe forum judging by the zero replies. Anyway I enjoyed it and it was interesting seeing the various designs and good to see skirts were part of the design in some of the mens kimonos.
Nevermind.

Not quite DrF. When you told of the Kimono exhibition I decided to go, thinking of my local VAM in South Kensington. I went to the fashioning masculinities exhibition and it was very good. But disaster, you were talking about Dundee.DrFishnets wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 6:49 am Oh well![]()

Yeah, the kimono exhibition was at the V&A in Dundee. I should have been clearer but the link I sent in my original post mentioned it was Dundee anyway.Barleymower wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 7:02 am

The fashioning masculinities exhibition sounds interesting and hopefully that will come to the V&A in Dundee. Incidentally I got a free ticket with being an art student to go to the kimono exhibiting.
I’m sure a lady took a photo of me at the exhibition as I was wearing my kimono style coat with a purple skirt but I’m maybe being paranoid.

Looks interesting, though much too far away.

I'm sure that the exhibition will be likely to tour, it may even appear at a V&A near you.
Steve.
PS if you haven't already, try a visit to our beautiful country.

BTW, we use a different phrase, "feel gype", it means about the same but pithier.
