Getting Dressed with Brad

Post by DrFishnets »

I have been following Brad's video as I find them very inspirational and give me more confidence in dressing in skirts. However, his latest video is probably one of the most depressing I’ve watched.

He interviewed an elderly man and woman who were both dressed to the nines and sadly the woman was less than impressed that a guy should be wearing a skirt. She said it’s fine if he was gay or trans and that a straight guy just looks weird in a skirt.

One thing that annoys me is people’s constant assumption that if a guy wears a skirt he must be gay which is stupid. Most (if all) gay men don’t wear skirts at all and have no interest in skirts.

Anyway here is the video.

Morning Dr F.
That clip has made me smile, personally I have the greatest sympathy with Paul.
Was that dapper Saville row look his choice or, hers on his behalf?
The irony is that I have known a lot of gay men over the years, many would have given their right hands for that look.
On the other hand, an equal number of straight, probably married, gender normative men would love the opportunity to replicate her style.
As I write this, I am in the restaurant of our local hospital, not a small affair and busy.
One lady spotted my essentially plain blue dress and actually looked shocked, not gay in her view, more like Norman Bates!
Oddly too, there is evidence to suggest that the kilt is making some way onto the gay fashion scene, hoots mon, I wonder why?

Did I imagine it, or did I see one or two guys passing by also wearing skirts?

Just watched it again, I haven't altered my opinion of her, and maybe even worse too.
As for two guys in skirts. you could well be correct Stu.
One in a black, the other in a white/neutral and not at the same time.
No appetite for a third look though.

The whole "he must be gay" thing is a major downside that prevents men's skirts from gaining any real traction. And ad Bruce Hornsby so accurately pointed out
"That's just the way it is
And some things'll never change
But that's just the way it is
That's just the way it is, it is, it is, it is,"
“And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Yeah Stevie, It’s a bit over the top some people’s reaction to a guy wearing a skirt when they view you as Norman Bates. However, that’s people for you and maybe a reason I keep myself to myself in this crazy society. I remember reading somewhere about kilts making it into the gay fashion.

Yeah I noticed one guy walking past wearing a skirt. Good job there weren’t more guys in skirts or that woman called Jodie would have had a panic attack. :)

Just watched the clip :|

A) That woman is bigoted beyond belief :!:
B) She touts men have many 'choices', ie: pants, shorts, pants, shorts
C) I didn't see the skirted men walking by.
D) She did most of the talking, enforcing 'her' opinions on the world.
E) She showed her sexist nature when she asked Brad if he wore kilts
(with out underwear claiming 'it was sexy' )
F) IMHO, Brad defeated his purpose by wearing pants under the skirt.
G) I could go on but, WHY :?:

One more time -- with feeling: We are never going to get anywhere if we cannot disconnect sexuality/gender from attire. NEVER.

Unless we can jettison the "old-thinking" and adopt new paradigms, we'll never have a chance to convince society on the matter -- and that's it's own hill. For now, we can focus on us and work on expunging obsolete thoughts.

E: she'd not be impressed if he turned the question on her!
F: to be fair he doesn't usually - he did mention he rode a motorbike to the event which would be unwise with bare legs!
