My cat is NOT aloof

Post by JohnH »

They say cats are aloof and detached from the humans.
Not so with my cat. I can try to sleeps but she wants to nuzzle me with head butting, licks me, meows, and cuddles up on my arm, where eventually her weight makes my arm uncomfortable. She weighs 5 kg (11 pounds). This is worse on Saturdays going into Sundays, as I have to get up to get ready for church.

And then the following day she sleeps a lot of the time. So I bother her from time to time when she is sleeping.

My cat adopted my wife, my dog, and me. She used to be a stray, but decided she wanted companionship. Sadly my wife and my dog met their end, so now it's only my cat and I. It was amusing to see my cat chase after a 40 kg (88 pound) dog, running with 3 legs and swiping at the dog with the fourth leg.

In my post above I showed the Savannah Cat. I would love to have on of these but the price tag for a 4th or 5th generation Savannah and later generations are usually $1,000 to $2,500.
I am not a cat person (and they know this) usually but there is something about this breed that intrigues me.

Cat shun water? Right?
Last night she came in through the doggie door and lay down on me. I noticed she was damp all over. Since there was no rain, perhaps she got into a neighbor's yard that was being watered. When it rains, she will come in drenched, sometimes so much water is running off her.
