Dresses?

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

I love dresses, it winds me up immensely that the western world sees dresses for women only.
I absolutely adore dresses too. In fact I like them better than skirts. Like yourself, I get very upset when dresses are classed only for women when men can wear them too and look very stylish. I’m thinking of buying a t-shirt maxi dress and match them with timberland boots and a waistcoat.

That photo of the dress you posted looks very nice indeed and shame it was gone before you could buy it. The same things have happened to me.

This spring and summer I haven't worn any skirts at all, I have really taken to dresses, I particularly like dresses that you can just pull over your head. The recent trend for tiered smock style dresses is great for that, loose and comfortable and don't slide down or dig in, brilliant.

IMHO, this "style" is the best :D

When wearing a skirt & shirt, if I reach up for something, the skirt may head south.
With this "style" of dress, I don't have to worry about that :)

If the dress is too short, I worry about the dress going 'north' if I reach for something
I have no desire to display tomorrows laundry :| This is why I prefer a knee-length dress.
This way the "see-level" doesn't rise to high, causing a disaster

I actually had a compliment at the mall today wearing a burgundy homemade dress with a jacket and a beret, was with the daughter getting a wallet and all the employees were in crazy outfits as well.

I also started to think how I can add dresses to my wardrobe.

What made things easier to think about the dress is that there are two approaches:
a dress as some matching top and skirt sewn together or a dress as some quite long top which can be that long that you can't see what's underneath.

10 centimeters above the knee is the highest hemline I will accept in my dresses.

I generally find two problems with dresses.
1. The tops of many dresses are made to support/accentuate/show off the two bumps which females tend to have.
2. A dress takes up a large proportion of your look to the extent that your look is the dress.

I have a small number of dresses, some I will only wear out with a jacket on top. This gives the great feeling of wearing a dress while still retaining a bottom and top. The one dress I have worn out as just a dress, is a very plain black which is essentially a T-shirt that is long enough to get past my knees.

I gain some confidence by following Jeff's jaunts, in the way that if Jeff can wear something why can't Mouse? So for this summer, I have worn leotards with lower neck lines and have really enjoyed feeling the sun and wind on my upper back. Also this summer, I bought and wore my long T-shirt dress, on its own, no jacket required...

just-me, let us know how you get along. If you post a few more times you will become a full member and be able to see Jeff's picture pages where I think you will learn a lot about what is possible in dresses. There are also other members who wear dresses and post pictures.

That’s why I stick to buying t-shirt mini or midi dresses because they fit the male frame too and are basically just very long t-shirts. I find wearing leggings extremely comfortable and help me walk better but the only problem was that my male bulge would show so I searched high and low for a very long t-shirt or sweatshirt but couldn’t find any. However, I soon discovered t-shirt dresses in the women’s clothes department and they have been great and very comfortable to wear that I am now a t-shirt dress addict and I cannot stop buying them. From time to time I wear them with opaque 100 denier black tights but it’s usually leggings I wear.

I have had problems with a few dresses where there is not enough room for my chest bumps or mounds, where I had to return them.

Chest mounds, bumps, the word is breasts!
More than half the mammal population on the planet have them in one form or another as far as I'm aware.
Are we so afraid of a bit of anatomy, that we cannot speak it's name?
Sorry guys, but if that's really so, I give up now.
I am wearing a dress right now, but since I don't have lady bulges it can't possibly be appropriate can it?
Steve.

The word "breasts" seems too feminine for me. That's why I call them "chest mounds".

Sorry STEVIE let me rephrase
1. The tops of many dresses are made to support/accentuate/show off the tits which females tend to have.
Better? :)

Trust you Mouse, but I thought great knockers and bazoombas, I'd have got sent to Bristol for the booby prize if I said it out loud.
John, you just prove how much power can sit within a word.
Actually, Bristol be damned, I'd have faced a baying mob and hung with the nearest bra strap.
