Why are Makeup, Feminine Tops Less Taboo for Men than Skirts Are?

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

I don't wear make up as a straight man, But I have been getting pedicures with my wife for at least 10 years now. I resisted getting a colored nail polish at first, I always got clear until my wife finally convinced me try getting colored nail polish. I get lots of compliments when I wear sandals by both men and women. Other that my wife the only other people who are aware are my friends at yoga class. I get positive comments form the yoga ladies.

So the next obvious step is to have matching fingers?🤠 I love my painted nails when I notice them during the day.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

20 years ago I dabbed with Makeup, I used it to even out my complexion. At the time was an active photographer and a Makeup artist I regularly used did markup on me for a Head shot shot photo I wanted done.
I liked the look and continued using it when ever I went out on the town.
When I hit 60 I grew out my Beard which covered up what I was covering with markup do it was longer needed. Shower, Shave, Makeup. Makeup accounted for 50% of the time I spent getting ready.
Woman have Fashion, Men have a Uniform.
A skirt wearer since 2004 and a full time skirt wearer since 2020.
