Hello from the Netherlands

Post by Katycatjulius »

Hello everyone, my name is Julius.

I always liked the look of some skirts and then a month or so ago i felt like why not just try one? so a few weeks ago i went onto a second hand online store and bought my first skirt (it's a faux leather skirt with a zipper on front that can open all the way), the reason i got it second hand is because while i have measuring tape and did measure myself i wasn't at all sure about the fit so i did not want to spend too much on it. Once i got it i tried it on i really liked it, however it is too tight so it hurts me wearing it which is a bummer but even though it is too tight i still really like it a lot so much so that i weft looking for more.

Now i have a wrap skirt ordered in a colour that i like of which i am sure will fit me (i checked my measurements with the size guide of the brand on their website) and i can't wait for it to arrive and try it on without it hurting me when i am wearing it.

For now it's just me myself who knows about this because on one hand i feel like "why would it matter what others think" but on the other hand i do mind what others think. My plan is to show my best friend next time i video call her (if the skirt that will fit me has arrived by then) and see what she thinks about it (i basically trust her with anything).

Thank you all for this forum and greetings from just a man who found out he really likes wearing a skirt

Welcome Katycatjulius to this site. You will find members here from around the world who all share a liking of skirt wearing. I live over the channel from you in the UK so not too far away. I do know that there are members who live closer to you in Europe. I hope your reveal to your friend goes well. If you post a couple more time, you will turn into a full member when you next log in. You can then see more of the site, especially the members picture area, which will give you a better idea as to who we are.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

Thank you, i am quite new to skirt wearing so i will see how it goes. Yes i hope the reveal will go well too, i haven't said anything about it yet other than that i have a package coming so if it arrives before the next time i do a video call i will tell my best friend beforehand just so it is known it stays between the both of us (for now at least)

Early on, it's best to take it quietly and slowly -- both to gain confidence and to learn "the ways of the skirt". They're quite different from trousers, and that can throw guys off.

That said, it's worth bearing in mind that at some point in time you're going to have to "go public" with the decision and start wearing "out and about". But, for right now, you're fine for keeping it in a small circle.

Good luck!

Yes i know they are quite different than pants, for example no pockets on a lot of skirts and since my phone is always in my front pocket of my pants that is definitely something to get used to (and requires a bag of some kind). I am sure i will learn loads just by looking through this forum and by wearing skirts at home in my room (i live in a house with 7 housemates me included makes 8 total of us so yeah my room is my private space and the rest is all shared). I will obviously start slow and me telling my best friend about it is already a big thing for me and if i can i would like one big thing at a time.

But first i need to receive the skirt of which i am sure will fit me which according to the online store is either tomorrow or friday

Hi KCJ and welcome,
Only a few years ago I was full of angst when I went I down to family dinner in a skirt. Next step the washing line followed by a trip to the bins.
First outing was to a gig in a tarten wrap and then a proper skirt on a day trip.
Find your own pace, there's nothing wrong with wearing a skirt. Its just a outdated tradition with a feeble basis that keeps mem in trousers.
I'm on holiday in Switzerland at the moment and I've worn a skirt every day so far. I've been greeted with smiling faces, a couple of double takes and a disapproving older women who gave me a "how dare you look". I chuckled all the way home.
I look forward to hearing how it went with your friend 👍

I am curious are you wearing long skirts or short skirts (normal short size, not extremely short size) or both?

At the moment i just feel like wearing a skirt from time to time and not everyday and besides even if i wanted to wear a skirt everyday i cannot do that because for work pants it is (for one of my 2 workplaces [restaurant] literally no one is allowed to wear skirts including woman and for the other work place [a farm] i don't know if it is allowed or not but with the things i do there i don't even want to. To be clear i am totally fine with wearing pants to work). So yeah i will see how it all goes including telling my best friend but first it needs to arrive as like i said the only one i have right now actually does hurt me when wearing it (meaning it's too tight).

I van say i also have found a handbag that is now on my wishlist cause i definitely will need one if i am wearing skirts with no pockets (when i do i will probably make a lot of hand movements to a pocket i have in my pants that is not there on the skirt to put in/take out my phone lol, i just hope i don't drop my phone because of it)

Hi Julius, I wear knee length or just below the knee. There's nothing wrong with short skirts, there are plenty of men here who wear short skirts and look great. I just don't like them that much on me. I wear mine from heavy to floaty, depending on the weather. I like skirts with colour and great designs best. It doesn't matter if they are flowery either.

I buy a size sixteen or the next size up. If it's too loose I put a tuck in the waist band with my basic hand sewing and that does the trick and is nearly invisible. Silk is great and extremely tough. I just bought a skirt by toast and it was too small so I stretched it overnight and now it fits perfectly. I've tried the same with cotton and it distorts and tears easily.

Now you have tried a skirt I don't expect you will want to give them up. They are very comfortable, look great, feel great and come in so many shapes and sizes it unimaginable. If all men knew this they would be wearing one.

I have an update, while i haven't received the skirt i ordered from the online store yet (i will receive it tomorrow) i also ordered a leather skirt from temu and i did receive that today and this is way too loose which made me question my own measuring i did so i tried it again and i got something different than what i had written down on an app on my phone so now i am totally question myself as to whether or not the one that is coming in tomorrow will fit me (will be sad if it does not) but luckily i have a 100 day return period as long as i don't wear it (seeing if it fits does not count as wearing it) and i actually have the same skirt but a different colour and 2 sizes lower incoming as well (this should arrive somewhere next week) so yeah i can direct compare and see if the size in between is required for me to fit it. I will post here if it does fit or not tomorrow once i am home from work and should have received it

Hi Julius, I bought a circle skirt on Amazon with an elasticated waist, which makes getting a fitting skirt easier. https://amzn.eu/d/hh0cywh
