Re: Leggings
Just for clarity, tights or bare legs for me, definitely no leggings ever!

Re: Leggings
Bare legs are footless so the thickness must be the issue ......... too much like pants I guess.Barleymower wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:33 am Late to the party but aren't they just footless thick tights?
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.
Re: Leggings
I have always thought of leggings as thick tights, where the thickness gives the user the option of not wearing a skirt to cover the interesting bits. Whether the garment covers the foot, or there is just a loop under the foot, or nothing, is just a detail of a particular pair.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

Re: Leggings
Years ago I had a pair of Ronhills that had a loop under the foot but who wears Ronhills track master classics anymore? They are practically leggings! So gay.Mouse wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 10:11 am I have always thought of leggings as thick tights, where the thickness gives the user the option of not wearing a skirt to cover the interesting bits. Re: Leggings
I had forgotten: when I was about 7 those leggings or slacks with a loop that goes under the foot seemed to me to be the coolest thing! I also coveted slip-on shoes without laces, and open-toed sandals instead of T-bars with closed toes (which I now prefer). And kilts, of course...
Re: Leggings
I think that a woman's tunic would go well with leggings. Adding a bit of modesty.Mouse wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 10:11 am I have always thought of leggings as thick tights, where the thickness gives the user the option of not wearing a skirt to cover the interesting bits. Re: Leggings
BTW, I believe that I posted about this awhile back. A production based on the Halo science fiction universe. Actress wearing tunic with thick leggings. A sort of in between rig midway between a skirted rig and a trousers outfit, and looks good.
Thinking back decades, I recall that black pantyhose goes well with a short dress.

Re: Leggings
Coincidentally,I just bought a nice tunic from M&S that looks really good with my leggings and Timberland boots.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist.

Re: Leggings
DrFishnets, I believe this kind of rig can look good on both men and women.

Re: Leggings
Yes it does look good on both men and women. However, it does have a sci-fi look about it with the leggings as it reminds me of the costumes on Blake’s 7 or 1970’s Doctor Who.

I’m going to try the tunic with thick 100 denier black tights.

Re: Leggings
DrFishnet, if this rig becomes common enough in everyday life, it will cease to seem like science fiction.

That LOOP under the foot makes the tights/leggings/pants = "Stirrup Pants" - commonly found in ski wear.Mouse wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 10:11 am I have always thought of leggings as thick tights, where the thickness gives the user the option of not wearing a skirt to cover the interesting bits. "YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Re: Leggings
Exactly, "ski pants", they were form fitting and quite thick, sometimes fleece lined.r.m.anderson wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 7:54 pm hat LOOP under the foot makes the tights/leggings/pants = "Stirrup Pants" - commonly found in ski wear.
This may seem strange, but snow is actually cold, skis don't work so well in summer.
