Mouse can sew...

Post by Mouse »

So after abusing the title of this board with my latex creations, I have made a skirt by sewing! The skirt is not for me, but for my daughter. The material was bought in the "Liberty Sale" (Liberty is a high class shop in London famous for their special fabric designs) in January and I have finally got around to making it. She is pleased with my creation.

Yes, It is just another power tool! I watched my mother sew as a kid so I had some ideas how to sew.

You have the same machine as me (erm, my mom's machine, but I digress)!

It is the classic Phaff 1222E. IMHO the best machine Phaff ever made. I bought mine second hand over 25 years ago after doing some research into old machines. My mum has an even older Phaff 260 which she bought new when I was a kid. I watched her use it, so when I wanted a machine, I bought a Phaff too. She still has the 260 and it is still running fine, although I don't think it gets much use since my mother is now 90.

Odd thing, the pattern had one pocket which I was going to put in, however my daughter said she didn't want a pocket in this skirt. So I complied with her wish. The material is very fine and a pocket would have spoiled the line if anything of any size was put in it. Also this skirt was to be similar to a skirt she already has, which also has no pocket.
