Necklace as... neck tie?

Many moons ago, when I was growing up, men definitely did not wear ear rings, and certainly not purple ones. (At this point I would refer you to the purple thread). There seems to be several different ways for a maverick to indulge in self expression outside the cramped little box of traditional masculinity.

I may have spotted a trend-a tieless look, but with lapel pins. I got a hint recently while watching a documentary about the Lockheed skunkworks. I noticed the same thing while watching a YouTube video (will the Avro Arrow fly again?).

The future of mens jewelry may lie in providing an alternative to ties.

I would say that necklace on bare skin can look splendid, if there is a lack of prominent chest hair. (My own chest is much too hairy). Other wise, wear a necklace over a shirt?

BTW, notice that some of the men have loosened their ties. Must have been a bit warm for the men, not so much for the ladies.

The other day...an aging man a few years older than me...dressed in the shabbier end of drabness.

Noticed that he was wear 5 metallic bracelets on one arm. He also seemed to be wearing a necklace of metallic links under his shirt. This jewelry wasn't very shiny, but it did seem to point towards individual expression.

Perhaps now, where ties are hardly worn, except for dress-up events, men might start wearing a necklace. It makes sense to me. It is just a question of which type of necklace?

You can always shave the hair or have it waxed. I have heard in the past that one of the objections to allowing professional men to go tie-less is that they don’t want ugly chest hair sticking out of the shirt.

Today I was paying a bill, and the young man (employee) I was talking to was wearing a pair of purple ear rings.

Earrings etc. are not so uncommon. In the past it was the stash of sailors instead of a wallet. Nowadays you will see mane men wearing one or two earrings. If I'm not mistaken, if only one is worn, a code of sexual preference might be indicated. You see it also many times with (wo)men who are fully covered by tattoos. Also that is a matter of individual preference, but as the inks cause cancer not my cup of tea.

I never understood the one earring thing. It looks unbalanced and like you could not afford two earrings.

I've worn a quartz crystal on a small chain for years, and before that I had a necklace with a small unicorn. I've also had one that featured a stainless-steed disk head which I sadly lost somewhere.

As far as tattoos go, I find them quite disgusting and shy away from women who have them because of the level of disgust (she'd be very pretty but for all that scarring!). The person who discovers a safe painless way to permanently erase tattoos will make Bill Gates look like a pauper.
