Triston Casas - proud wearer of nail polish

Post by FranTastic444 »

As I browsed through the tv channels last night, avoiding the adverts (not as easy as it might sound) and trying to fill up a few more minutes of my time by watching something informative or entertaining before going to bed, I came across this interesting interview on NESN.

As an aside, I am also seeing Wes of Amy and Wes / Boat Time fame frequently wearing nail polish.

That was a very interesting interview. Did you catch the encouragement his parents gave him to be himself and different. Just what parents should be doing for their offspring.
When I started wearing nail polish, I asked my son, in his twenties, what he thought of the latest thing his dad was getting into. He shrugged and said it was no big thing, since a couple of his mates wore nail polish already! I think Triston is in a similar age group where these things are not that special.

I didn't see any coloured nails on the guy. I didn't watch every second so I may have missed it.

I love having colour on may nails. When I am working, it is fun when you catch sight of the colour on your nails against a mass of wires or something. I am not that concerned if I get chips, since I just patch up the chips for the next day. I can even do what the women do and patch my nails while riding the tube.

For any guy that wants to get into it, if you ever painted Airfix models with Humbrol paint as a kid, you already have the skills to paint nails. Even the smell is the same.

Good for him, obviously he is very lucky to have full support and even encouragement from his parents, if only this were more universal however this type of encouragement has traditionally mainly been offered only to females in the majority of families. It was particularly great that he started with his toes (which can be hidden) and his own father told him to do the fingers to match and basically be out there.
I have often thought that in my younger days the hard nut that used to impose the so called rules by belittling anyone who was different was often only doing so to disguise their own insecurity and it was only the very brave who dared to follow the fashion examples of the likes of the more outlandish pop stars of the day such as Boy George and the more extreme punk rockers - alas I was not confident enough to be one of those and even today still keep my skirting more covert although sometimes I will stretch to clear nail polish but mainly to protect my nails from getting completely battered when undertaking certain types of DIY.

I did, given my efforts then, my nails would remain aux naturale but the spatter might be interesting.

Come on, we are men, we can do anything if we put our minds to it. These nails have 4 layers to them, it is not rocket science. Base coat, colour, sparkle and gloss top coat. Are they perfect? Hell No, but they bring me pleasure in a similar way to wearing a skirt. They also add colour in to the mix and get compliments from others with similar polished nails.

Macho alpha males and conservatives are having a shlt-fit about baseball, basketball, and football players wearing nail polish in the USA. They are name calling those athletes homosexuals. Strange I never seen a gay man wearing nail polish. They are more likely to wear Armani suits. It is funny and as ignorant AF. Didn’t we go through this 20 years ago when professional athletes started wearing earrings? I remember that the world was going to end at that time. It is also ironic that some rappers with hair buns and multiple earrings are calling men out for wearing nail polish! How can they be so ignorant ? It is interesting that when women started wearing tattoos, nothing was said. Go figure.

The prevailing mindset in that men must never adopt any female items or clothing, however any male items are fair game for women.

I wish I had the opportunity more often. But working in healthcare we are not allowed to have nail polish and its too much of a hassle to remove for me to use it often.

The regulation is bs though, there is no research that points to painted nails being less hygienic than unpainted ones, even to the contrary. But thats not my fight to pick up.

Nail varnish... One more thing to beat men up about that has no bearing on anything other than taste...

Here's a playful shot I got helped with the other day by a female friend for a playful message to my attempted romance with the woman from Savannah, GA:
fingers.jpg
That got sent off in an e-mail with the playful title of "Giving you the Finger(s)" which netted me a nice reply.

Green is -- as it should be -- my starboard and red corresponds to port, but the picture doesn't portray it properly because of the hand arrangement which was the only way to gracefully array everything. The "wedding band" is there as a statement of, "Don't bother; I've given up the 'dating scene'".

Here is a really good video about men wearing nail polish from an open-minded person.

I tend to prefer a natural look. Never liked make up on others, never cared much for tattoos (small ones are okay), and it is garish when people die their hair colors that are unnatural to any human being.

But, aesthetically, nail polish works. Maybe this partly due the small area that is colored?

Every Saturday night I remove the old nail varnish (polish) and put on a new color to go with the outfit (usually a dress) I will wear Sunday morning. Mouse, how do you get such nice nails? The nails on my index fingers split off at the ends due to my activities.
