Skirt from a pillowcase?

Post by Jim »

This morning, when putting my pillow into a fresh, but old, pillowcase, I heard a ripping sound. The seam on the closed end failed. A new skirt!? I wrapped the top around a belt and tried it. A few steps and I had a side slit as the side seam started to fail. A little sewing to take care of rough edges, or not?

When I was about nine or ten that is how I made all my early skirts. Quick and easy.

That is quite a look with the bare mid section. No reason not to, I just don’t have the confidence …

I fear that there would be more ripping noises if you attempted a long stride in that. Cut it in half and make two miniskirts :]

It already has a slit up the side 3/4 of the way, so maybe no more--but I've considered that idea. And I might try the real sewing challenge of putting in a little elastic so I don't need to roll it on a belt.
