One of the reasons I dislike cats... Some of my ex's kept cats over my objection and when they left they left the cats. So for awhile there were feral cats in the woods. They are now long gone to the litter box in He double hockey stix.

As we store animal and poultry feed (in large metal bins) there will always be spillage to attract the rats, which we don't see, because we keep both cats and dogs. The dogs for security and companionship, the cats for vermin control.
Of three current remaining cats, two are sociable, but their 'socialising' always carries a nutrition request. If you feed 'em too well they won't do their job.
Dogs on the other hand give you unconditional & unfailing love.
