Man-cami
Man-cami
Hi folks, I just posted a new topic in Pics & Looks named "Mancami".
The camisole is a satisfying and somewhat more femme alternative to the traditional, inelegant and ugly "wife-beater" tank-top traditionally available to men, allowing more air-on-skin whilst still not running afoul of "no shirt no service" rules. In that post I illustrate a conversion that makes it possibly even more man-friendly. Camis can be had for very little money if you shop at the right time of the year, and in a wide variety of colours (as are afforded to women but less so to men).
I think it possible that if men ever get over their fear of anything currently imagined as feminine, and discover the pleasures of extra air on skin thanks to well-placed straps, something like the mancami might be the gateway garment.
For the record, I am just being cute. I don't call my purse a "man-purse". Nor would I call my pantyhose "mantyhose", were I ever to wear such. "Mancami" is just a quick designator for "converted to perhaps be more convenient for men".

Re: Man-cami
The camis that I buy are just a couple of quid each and come in a variety of colours of which black, blue, lilac, purple and white are my favourites. I haven't come across any yellow ones yet. Anyway they're just camis really. I don't agree with the trend of adding "man" to the front of something to make them appear acceptable. Sorry, Daryl, on that point.

yeah, I don't like it either, so of course I did it....Sinned wrote:The camis that I buy are just a couple of quid each and come in a variety of colours of which black, blue, lilac, purple and white are my favourites. Agreed. Wouldn't like it if it was called a "manisole" or a "camibro" either!Daryl wrote:yeah, I don't like it either, so of course I did it....Sinned wrote:The camis that I buy are just a couple of quid each and come in a variety of colours of which black, blue, lilac, purple and white are my favourites. Daryl I like this idea. And I am sorry lads I like the name mancami.
Delightful to wear something soft and flimsy.

Re: Man-cami
hilaryskirt, can't think of a worse name, mancami just doesn't seem to flow right, and I just don't think it would help with the takeup of the garment with your average Joe. A cami is a cami is a camisole - a sleeveless vest-like garment with low front and back and spaghetti straps. Just as well we aren't all the same.

Re: Man-cami
How about calling a bra a "mra" for a man such as myself with prominent chest mounds? Last time I went shopping I didn't find mras in the men's section.

Re: Man-cami
This all reminds me of the inane "Manbun" name for a hair bun, if it's worn by a guy. I guess we should start calling a bun being worn by a woman a "ladybun" or a "womanbun"...
With respect to camisoles, etc, they are comfortable to wear. That said, I find that not having the shoulder straps is even better.

I like wearing camisoles and mini skirts, being a nudist it is probably the closest thing to wearing nothing you can get without wearing nothing

That black/white mini-skirt looks like one of Sister-fun-bunny's stock.

Daringly short 12-14 inch hem - elastic all around waist - semi-box pleats
A real challenge to wear this discretely - but in private anything goes !

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Re: Man-cami
You still have a waistband to hold up the skirt. On the other hand, a dress hangs from the shoulders with no waistband. That’s the next best thing to being naked. If anybody objects to my wearing a dress, I ask him/her if (s)he would prefer to see me naked.vendeebeaches wrote:I like wearing camisoles and mini skirts, being a nudist it is probably the closest thing to wearing nothing you can get without wearing nothing

Looks like a cool and comfortable outfit which I would be happy wearing about the house - not to be out of the public eye but out of the sun's rays.vendeebeaches wrote:I like wearing camisoles and mini skirts, being a nudist it is probably the closest thing to wearing nothing you can get without wearing nothing

Re: Man-cami
It is crazy the words that get invented to bolster a self conscious masculinity. We are gradually getting rid of all the female gender specific words, aviatrix, actress, comedienne, and now inventing new ones for males. I hope manskirt doesn't take a hold. "Is that a manskirt?" "No, it's just a #@(%'n skirt!"Kilted_John wrote:This all reminds me of the inane "Manbun" name for a hair bun, if it's worn by a guy.
I realise that "mancami" is a bit tongue-in-cheek; what about a manisole as renesm1 mentioned .............. Oh no!, it already exists: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define. ... m=Manisole

Re: Man-cami
We males can do without wearing a top in many circumstances. I'm in just the short skirt hiking, fishing, doing yard work...vendeebeaches wrote:I like wearing camisoles and mini skirts, being a nudist it is probably the closest thing to wearing nothing you can get without wearing nothing
Re: Man-cami
I regularly buy Camisoles. Recently, though, you're more likely to find them listed as 'stringy', 'strappy' or 'spaghetti' vests.JohnH wrote:How about calling a bra a "mra" for a man such as myself with prominent chest mounds? Last time I went shopping I didn't find mras in the men's section.
Whatever their description, you can buy such garments with 'added support'. My experience is that such garments are supplied with either 'shelf support' (an extra elasticated layer), or with 'soft padding'.
I prefer the latter: a good alternative to wearing a padded bra.
