Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
Trip to the theatre this afternoon with Mrs SS. Train to Glasgow, hang about Central Station waiting for a connection, quick cuppa in the theatre café, the play, back to city centre for a drink, and couple of brief trips to supermarkets. Now on the train home. All while wearing a floral skirt and grey tights. Not a word of complaint from the Mrs. I think I'm getting there!
A colleague and I spotted each other as we were alighting the train in Glasgow Central. It's a terminus, so everyone was getting off and she wouldn't have been able to see my skirt. But she passed me a minute later and didn't bat an eye at my outfit. Either she has got used to the idea of me in skirts very quickly, or she didn't notice.
And plenty of football fans about in all those places (except the theatre, they were elsewhere obviously). Not my favourite people, but no more or less reaction from them than anybody else who noticed me. (Loads of them, unsurprisingly.)

Glad things are working out well - now to tackle the office
I guess some of the football fans you passed would have been kilted - but it's nice you wore something bright. Shows that the fear is in our minds and nothing happens as everyone else is too wrapped up in their own lives
No kilts for the footie today - that is for the international matches only. No need to look Scottish when the other team are Scottish too. Rangers at home today, judging by the mass of blue tops and scarves. No Rangers tartan to be seen.

I had to have a couple drinks first I wife is wearing a dress we caught an Uber to the local casino and I have been walking around and now planted at the bar for a couple of hours. I’ve had many looks. I still feel a lil nervous my wife is very supporting and I’m hacinv so much fun!!! This is who I am. Tommorow it’s a blue Jean knee length or a Corduroy skirt But without the “ liquid courage “ we will see.. lol wish me luck!
Well done! Jeans skirt will go without issue... post a pic of it if you can... "Invisible Denim" is a joy to wear
We had a good time wife won $900!
So next day we went walking in and out of shops. Very artsy area with galleries shops ect. and pretty crowded.
I was wearing my corduroy skirt with bare legs (hot day). Gotta say lots of looks but people were friendly and inviting. Talked directly to a shop keeper. Just normal conversation. No liquor this time just tried to hold my head up and be confident as possible. I know how much harder this would have been without my sweetie she is so amazing!

Looks even better than denim, well done! The looks were probably admiration, and some guys who wished they had the guts to wear something more comfortable than shorts. Normal conversations, confident strides are the key, nothing to worry for! Wish I had $900

I would have thought for some a kilt would have been an option I guess for some, kilts are more for formal events, though I'd wear an inexpensive PV (polyviscose) kilt to a game...
The other day I went to our local shopping mall to get some groceries and had to go into the Woolworth store it is the only store that has security at the door to search everyone that enters because a couple of there stores have been fire bombed recently, joined the male queue to be searched all the guys had security wand moved up ether side, up there back and down the front on them and between there legs. Then it was my turn, I was wearing one of my kilts as I always do, he looked at me, looked at my kilt, you could see by the expression on his face that he did not know what to do, so he just said remove your cell phone and car keys please and just ran his wand up my left side and said OK. As I walked away I had a good chuckle to myself.

Entering an outdoor concert venue that was part of our annual Caribana festival, the security guy at the entrance just looked at me and didn't quite know what to do. I broke the ice with "all you need to check me for weapons is a mirror." He laughed and waved me in.
I had never encountered segregated male and female security lines until our trip to India in 2012. They were segregated even at the Air India section of the Toronto airport, though not for any other part of the airport I've ever seen (which would be mostly flights to Europe, the Caribbean and the USA, plus domestic flights). MOH wound up with her security woman just before I went to my security guy, and made a comment to her that made her laugh. I asked later what that was and she said "I told her you were my husband but maybe you should have been in the same line as me." (I was wearing a kilt.)
The weather today has been very windy with frequent short gusts. I went to post a letter, wearing one of my knee-length denim skirts which normally is heavy enough to stay down - but today there was a real danger of it lifting, so I kept the hand holding the letter pressed against it. Of course Sod's Law, in the form of an exceptionally vigorous gust of wind, struck just as I lifted my hand to put the letter in the pillar box slot. My skirt completely inverted upwards for a split second before I grabbed it and smoothed it back down. Luckily there was nobody looking in my direction so my dignity remained intact.
The next challenge was the cash point. Having learned my lesson, I pinned the hem against the wall with one knee when I found I needed to use both hands to pull the card out of my wallet. Then I went home and changed into something longer.
There is no such thing as a normal person, only someone you don't know very well yet.
I have found that if you are out in the wind, in the open its not a problem. Its when you go against something like a building, getting in and out of your car or as in your care Pelmut, a letter box, that`s when the wind diverts upwards and lifts as in my case the kilt. So when out in the wind I tend to hold my kilt down as much as possible, not always succesfully.

What ! You are not wearing your KILT PIN to tie me kangaroo down sport ! Or something to that effect ! LOL !
YES out in the open no problemo - but get downtown between buildings and it will be like in a centrifuge and there will no end to flashing into the wind !
With Kirbstone he can take his kilt and add one sail to his sailing sport ! LOL !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !
It is Sunday today. first day of autumn, sunny and a bit cooler, with a strong wind from the North West . I walked the North bank of the
Helford river wearing a warm brown skirt under my summer skirt..Most of the other walkers were wearing shorts or trousers.
No comment from anyone. A beautiful clear afternoon high up in the fields on the banks of the river. ...the leaves are just starting
to turn in the woods going down to the waters edge. Temp down to 15 C in the late afternoon. .....weeladdie
