Helllooo

Post by saltwood »

Hi from Hertfordshire.

I am so grateful to the members here for their positivity and good humour. It's been a great help in getting me out and about skirted. My wife and kids have been great too which has been a source of huge relief. Whilst I have been wearing skirts on and off since I was 9 or 10, it has taken me this long (now in fifties) to be comfortable enough in my own skin not to pay too much attention to what others might think of me if I want to do some things differently. I love wearing skirts, so enough of being deprived of a small pleasure.

It is early days for me. So far I have been to umpteen supermarkets, clothes shops, filling station, post office, newsagents, out walking the dog and just strolling. I have a way to go before I'd be skirted in the workplace and I'm not so sure about pubs yet. One step at a time, eh!

Welcome to the board, saltwood. It's nice to hear that you're wearing skirts most places and that you're working on the rest.

You're fortunate to have such an accepting family. Family and especially spousal opposition is a frequent problem.

Wearing skirts to work can be tricky because the higher-ups tend to say, "Personally, I don't care, but I'm afraid it might drive away some of our customers," and that's so nebulous that it's hard to argue against. Corporate policy manuals have by law to be equal for men and women, and so if women are allowed to wear skirts, you should be too.

What kind of work do you do? If it's non-customer-facing you might get more tolerance.

Anyway, thanks again for coming on-board!

You don't know how lucky you are to have supportive family. MOH is tolerant around the house but won't go out with me while I am wearing a skirt despite the fact that most of those outside the family that we deal with have seen me skirted. She also knows that I go out skirted while she is not around but she seems to ignore this. Anyway welcome and you will get more out of the site the more that you contribute to it. Sadly we have many members that say hello and then drop into a black hole.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Hi saltwood, welcome to the site, and very welcoming it is! Re going to the pub, I wear my skirt in my local, but I would be very reluctant to wear it for a night on the lash..drunks can be very unpredictable! Try going to a rural pub early evening to get the feel of it, and build from there.
If it aint Yorkshire, it's crap!

Hello and welcome, saltwood! It's great that your family are OK about your skirts. How old are your children?

Please tell us how you get on with wearing your skirts in more adventurous places!
Keep on skirting,

Alastair
