Attempting to make "ancient armor" style skirt

I am going to try and make a "ancient armor" style of skirt. I felt like having a bit more masculine type of skirt but I was inspired to make it in a very non masculine way, I wanted to make a skit just like fluttershy's in the episode "harts worming eve"
Here are some of the things I am going to style it on.

I made the the shape out of news paper and made these last night out of black canvas.

I just ducked taped it all together to see how it would look. I may add some decorative gray stitching or something to it but i don't know yet.

The attempt is fast turning to success. I think a contrasting pleat would work well with that style, there would be just a slight flash of colour with movement.

This reminds me of Bob Pettingill from Seattle.
I think he has gone to the Big Skirt Cafe' in the Sky.
Anyway, he took all of his old 'work' ties and had a
skirt made from them. Similar in style but extremely
colorful He wore his 'Tie Skirt' on stage when he
played guitar and keyboards in a local band.

Leave an open contrasting panel in between each pleat and you will have something similar to a cheerleaders fly-away skirt !
With that noted be careful of any False Starts in backfield in motion !
What is that Maggies drawers or a penalty flag thrown by the ref ?
And if you do any whirling dervish movements take care that you don't level the playing field ! LOL !

Great that someone has brought an interest back to sewing !

I did think it would look at bit like a skirt made of tires, and kind of like a cheerleder skirt so I added some sliver stiching to make it stand out more. I like it so far, kind of gives it a bit of a viking fell to it. What do you think?

Perhaps it might be worth experimenting with the shape each panel of the armour skirt.
The pleats at the rear of the Traditional Scottish kilt all hang vertically from the hips but taper in from the hip to the position of the true waist.........

However the taper from hip height to waist may change around the front of the wearer.
The waist is normally about 8 inches above the hip.

To clarify what I am stating ; perhaps each panel should taper outwards from the waist to the hip,
but remain parallel from the hip to the hem.
