Re: First Flight (Skirted)
For what it's worth, I always wear a skirt when flying now, and it would take a lot to persuade me not to; it's just so much more comfortable.
Most recently between London and Austin, Texas; I'd initially had slight misgivings about wearing skirts to and in Texas - but then I came across Austin's slogan and reputation, and it turns out that Austin is one very cool place.

This comment brought back a memory.Caultron wrote:It is unusual to be on a flight with empty seats, but it does sometimes happen.
Years ago I was on a flight that was basically deserted. I boarded early and like a good little doobie, I found the seat that was printed on my ticket and sat in it. Perhaps the computer was in a bad mood that day, as the seat it assigned me was in the middle rows of a wide body, and there might have been five other people on the plane. So after sitting there a while, when it became obvious that the flight was going to be essentially empty, I got up and moved to a window seat.
Before takeoff I happened to look back to where I was sitting, and in the seat beside where I had been was a very attractive young lady. I've always wondered whether someone was trying to do me a favor and I blew it.

Why are the opportunities we miss the most memorable?

Social norms aren't changed by Congress or Parliament; they're changed by a sufficient number of people ignoring the existing ones and publicly practicing new ones.

Because we beat ourselves up over them for a very long time afterwards -- usually needlessly.Pdxfashionpioneer wrote:Why are the opportunities we miss the most memorable?

And because, since we missed them, our imagination fills in the "what might have been" with a very different scenario than probably would have occurred.crfriend wrote:Because we beat ourselves up over them for a very long time afterwards -- usually needlessly.Pdxfashionpioneer wrote:Why are the opportunities we miss the most memorable?
But then again, we all have experiences that we actually had that are memorable.
