The cloak I ordered tends to the more formal than functional side of things, but that was by design on my part. I'm not sure how it'll perform in the rain or snow (it's tagged as dry-clean only).

A practical one would be made of heavy wool or tweed with a very tight weave and possibly treated to be waterproof. Something like that would make for a superior outer garment. (I miss my old Korean-War-era Army-issue great-coat which served me very well for a long time. I'd like to find another like it, as well as a good version of my grandfather's Army-issue "Ike jacket" from World-War II which never fit me very well. Both were ultimately irretrievably damaged by my ex's cats years ago.)

Well I have to eat my works; scoffing at not looking for compliments.
It wasn't said directly to me but relayed by a friend of mine who was talking in a parked car when I walked past in a mini skirt. Her friend said "There goes Anthony in his mini skirt, He actually does look great in it, he has really good legs and ..........."
I confess it did make me feel good hearing that and even more confident. It is another level going from acting confident to being confident.

These are the sorts of things that can really put a spring in one's step.

I decided to "peacock it up" yesterday and wore my new purple velvet double-breasted vest and ruby taffeta ankle-length skirt -- and got a lot of looks when I went for a sashimi lunch at a place I frequent in Natick as well as a very nice compliment from one of the waitresses. There were smiles all the way 'round with that. I also ran into a couple of old co-workers who were glad to see me which was nice as well.

That's the intent once things get decent outdoors again. There's really nowhere to shoot inside.

There's no denying that the colour-combination jumps out at the onlooker!

Comments from others are a great fillip to your confidence. I have had a few (recounted in various places elsewhere on this site) and the confidence it gives you is wonderful!

I have been wearing my Skirtcraft skirt to work every day this week so far. Difference today is that I met my sister for lunch. She has seen me in a tartan kilt and a black UK before.

But never in a skirt - until now! I wore it with black tights which shs has never seen me wearing before either.

Her only comment was that "I looked lovely" and "Great stuff" then we got on with catching up with our news.

No comments on the tights at all - I always suspected she would be OK with skirts (but you never know). It did feel good getting the thumbs up though!

Corollary:- Yesterday I sent my sister an e-mail explaining that the skirt was an actual skirt and not a kilt-clone (Utilitikilt or whatever) and she replied the following last night.

" I loved your skirt and it's good to see you on the cutting edge of fashion.
I was VERY proud walking with you wearing it. Made the other guys look like 'fuddy duddies!'"

All I can say is WOW! Puts a spring in my step!

She then asked where I got it and will try and persuade her hubby to get one!!! Watch this apace.
