Oh, I'm not worried, if I were I would not have done it. I am however curious as to how it will play out; no reaction, gentle ribbing, serious mickey taking...

Whatever the reaction (or not) I am confident that it will not have any significant impact.

Have fun,

Ian.

PS Even the guv'nor's reaction is not an issue in this situation, as there was no potential customer impact.

I have been visiting San Francisco this week with my wife. She doesn't like my wearing skirts but she tolerates it as long as it isn't in our home town when we are together. The last two days I've been wearing skirts during the middle of the day. Went to the De Young museum and the Ferry market (I think it's called). Hardly noticed anyone even looking at me. Yesterday, late in the day, I had an interesting experience. It had gotten quite col so I switched to wearing pants, as I feel foolish wearing a skirt if it causes me to feel cold. Anyway, while my wife was in a Buffalo Exchange, a used clothing store in the Castro district, I went next door to another clothing outlet. Besides the person running the store, there was at most one other person there. We got into talking and I told her that I liked to wear skirts and asked her help to find some there as the way the clothing was arranged seemed complicated. She told me that she knew a man where she once worked in Texas who got into wearing skirts. He had been jealous of how women could wear clothing that seemed much more appropriate for hot weather. He really liked not having a lot of cloth between his legs. I told her that's exactly how I felt. Later she raised the subject of utilikits and we talked a bit about kilts. I was amazed at how I just started talking to a random person and found someone who was aware of a man who wore skirts for the same reason we do.

Can someone educate me on the saying "serious mickey taking..." it must be a phrase common to the eastern side of the pond.

Had to get the car serviced today and wore my denim skirt. :D This is the first time I have been to the dealership wearing a skirt. The place was crowded and I had no problems at all. One old gent did a double take but said nothing.

So just another day in the life of a man in a skirt.

Me too. I took my car into a Toyota dealer for service wearing a black utility kilt, black tights, black 3" spike heels, a black messenger bag, and a black T-shirt printed, "HOMICIDE - Chicago Police - 'Our day starts when yours ends.'"

I'm sure people noticed but nobody said anything.

I was going to take a selfie during lunch until I realized I'd left my tripod in the car at the dealer. Still on my list, though.

Jim2, welcome to my city. They didn't look at you at the deYoung because I've broken the ice for you. :) The museum is walking distance from where I live. I'm a member, so I can go any time for no additional charge, and I've been there skirted several times since I started wearing skirts full time (on weekends). I assume you went to the Oscar de la Renta show.

Thanks, though I haven't noticed much looking anywhere I've gone. Maybe that's because I tend not to pay much attention to it anymore. I did not go to that show. It's not something that interests me, but it did interest my wife. But it was rather expensive. We had never been to the museum before, so we had spent much of the day looking around at all the exhibits. It's a nice museum. Not too large to feel overwhelmed but lots of interesting paintings and other things. I especially liked some of the Hopi and Mexican pottery as I own a few smaller pieces that are similar.

We went back to the clothing stores we had been in. The woman at that outlet told me that after she had last seen me, she had been in Trader Joe's and suddenly realized that the man in front of her was wearing a skirt. Could that have been you?

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. My only post so far is in the introduction. Maybe it is time to put in something here too. It isn’t something extraordinary, but I have always loved to read others everyday stories so this is mine from today.

This morning I had some errands to take care of and do some shopping between all the days off in the Easter holiday. My girlfriend and I have an agreement that I don’t go out dressed from our house, so I decided to put on a dress, tights, heels and a cardigan in the car. I went to a mall 30 minutes from where I live, and walked around in different stores as a man in a dress. There were no reactions at all, only nice smiles from the SA’s that treated me like everyone else. One SA recognized me from before, and told me welcome and told me that I always dressed so nice. Of course there are some double looks from others passing by, but that I can live with.

I have gone around like this for several years but I still get a rush out of it. I don’t sit a long period in the car nervous like I did in the past before I go out. When I arrive I just get out of the car, and I don’t care if it is crowdie or not. It can even be a little bit boring at times because I am actually not looking for anything special. It is only an excuse to get out and about. Today I had a long list to do buy some food and I went to the grocery store in the mall. I like it so much better when I have something constructive to take care of when I dress. It was a lot of people around me all the time, and I paid and left. One thing was missing so I had to enter another store. I stopped by a store only ten minutes from where I live. I am not open to everyone, but I have decided that if someone sees me that doesn’t know, I will just keep on with my head held high. In this store a lady in her 40’s stopped me and told me “you look great, and you make me happy, because I see you can walk naturally around being yourself and nobody cares how you are dressed”. I thanked her very much. Comments like that are seldom but really makes me smile for a long period. Then I went home again.

I will try to attach a picture of what I wore today.

Went to Lowes in Abingdon today, I was wearing a reddish black floral skirt and orange striped (ladies) tank with a hoodie (I know, I know....) in the grille section.

One of the sales associates "ma'amed" me. "Help ya find anything ma'am?". Then I answered in my guy voice... and he was...

Actually first time that's ever happened. And surprising since I hadn't shaved today and I've got a little scruff going on.

On my exit this punk looking 20' something kid with his ghetto girlfriend under his arm was staring me down pretty hard.

Mowed the grass this morning in my black Macabi, the neighbor and several of his buddies were in his driveway working on his car. They looked.... perplexed. Of course my neighbor, having seen me skirted for a while now didn't think much of it and kept working at his car. The Macabi was a bit warm, but I needed something with a pocket since I have to carry this blasted phone around all weekend for being on call. BOOOOOO!

Good to mow the grass for the first time this season.... summer is on it's way!!! :flower:

It's British vernacular / slang for teasing, sometimes it can border on the malicious side, :)

Wow Robert, that does look pretty good. I really like that dress. Where did you get it? I still have some split second impulses to "stay in the car" when I go out, especially if I'm wearing something that I have judged as "daring". I turn a lot of heads, but in reality, when you think about it, I wear some pretty eclectic skirts, and they would turn heads on a female too, so I'm not really sure if it's so much the "man in the skirt" or just the skirt.

But that dress you are wearing, I would wear with confidence because it seems like it fits a man well. In other words, it doesn't look awkward. I am green with envy!

I have worn a skirt to a couple of Trader Joe's in the past but since I don't shop there very often, it was probably someone else. My last TJ's visit skirted was mid morning on a Saturday about three weeks ago. The 9th street store. I had stopped in the center to go to Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy skirt hangers on my way from the farmer's market to Safeway and then home. FM & Safeway are my normal Saturday morning routine.

I so do enjoy wearing denim pencil skirts which look great on me, and this is one of my favorites. By the by, for anyone who's never seen me wearing pantyhose, here you are. Pretty snazzy, eh? I wore this outfit yesterday, including a visit to a multiplex to see Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. While the lobby was packed with people, next to no one gave me the time of day, as for the movie, it was okay, nothing spectacular, but that's just my opinion.

That is a very good look Robert. In fact I had to look twice to see that it was in fact a dress. the cardigan on top made it look like it was a skirt at first glance. Hell If another half bald Robert can do this I may try one day myself. :P
