For a moment I did not quite get the picture - a mini-cooper and a mini-skirted cooper driver.
A perfect length mini-skirt with just the right amount of "A" frame hem - I don't know so much about the "A" frame of the mini-cooper though !
One thing for sure Henry Ford did not have a mini-skirted driver in his model "A" Ford and the color was not tartan - any color you want as long as it was Black !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Hmmmm - I don't know how you would be able to wear the first.

But I do like the second one!

Search for a Skirt with a Train

Post by denimini »

Inspired by talk of skirts with trains, I did a search and found a nice pencil skirt with a train:

Is that a way into the male market? Most steam train enthusiasts are men. Would need a bit of a redesign though - it's too bodycon for a man.
Keep on skirting,

I suppose a micro skirt with a train would be rather steampunk:

One would think that the photographer could have used the side of the engine with drivers down. It looks much better.

Well, I did hear that the Flying Scotsman is on the rails again. Perhaps we need a printed kilt to memorialize that locomotive.

While I am not exactly an expert on Steam engines Taj. The drive rods in the photo are just about at the point where the steam chest valves would be changing from forward motion to reverse motion. The drive rods on the other side would be very nearly at the same position vertically from the ground and the valves on that side changing from reverse motion to forward motion. In any event the photo would have been nearly identical on both sides of that particular locomotive.

I don't know. Given the pose, I think it looks just fine.

It's tough to go wrong with steam engines.

Sorry to contradict you, but no they wouldn't. The connecting rods on the two outer cylinders of steam locomotive are usually 'quartered', i.e. the crank pins are a quarter of a turn (90 degrees) out of step with each other. This gives four equally-spaced torque inputs (and four equally-spaced exhaust beats) per revolution of the wheels.

If they were 180 degrees apart, the maximum push on one side would occur at the same position as the maximum pull on the other - and there would be two dead-centre positions where the engine could stall.

Yes, the rods are offset to a degree. There's more truth in my too subtle humour than I realized. I've been around train nuts for the last 50 years and there really are some who would ignore the girl, or even want her out of the picture for a good train photo. "Drivers down" is the classic pose for photos, especially builder's shots.
