In how we weather the storm - - -

Really causes a logistics nightmare for the stores to resupply the shelves when the trucks with the resupply are affected by the weather.
Then so on and so forth up the supply chain to the distributor to the warehouse etc.
May take weeks for things to resume normal consumption levels.

How to turn a hic-up into chronic constipation, metaphorically speaking about supply, but may be literally if one has bought 20 loaves of $3 bread.

LOL!! I've seen that many times. I guess I'm not a normal panic consumer; I went to the liquor store. But we will likely just get some ice and then three or four more inches of rain, it appears. I made sure the wood box was filled.

Bad part is, everything will probably be mostly back to normal by mid Sunday, save for the schools that will probably be out for a few days into the week. These people act like they are going to be hemmed up for a month.

I was talking to the store manager yesterday (standing there in a bright rainbow colored skirt no less...) and made the assumption that maybe it's like black Friday, where it seems like people just like coming out and getting in the rush of things.

"Whew.... got the last gallon of whole milk.... hahaha... those suckers behind me are going to have to settle for 2%"

"But honey, isn't this the $6 brand? And we already have two gallons in the cooler."

"Yes dear, but it's OURS!"

What really sucks, is that we never went marketing last week due to the death in the family, we were out of town. I don't get paid until Thursday, so I wasn't able to do any shopping until after work, on the day of the snow scare, which means that the shelves were picked clean!

Believe me, I hated the fact that people probably looked at me thinking I was "freaking out" because I purchased $100 of groceries before the storm.

No.... it's not that folks, we were just legitimately out of food.

Ironic, tonight, as far as public image goes, it had nothing to do with the fact I was wearing a very flashy bright skirt.... nope I just hated the thought of people thinking I was panicking. I wasn't. I buy a shopping cart full of food every Thursday.

GF made a comment about how she couldn't understand the people who were remembering the last snowmagedon, "We ended up with only noodles and water, I'm not having that happen again"

We did a quick scan of the cupboards, enough stuff for at least 2 weeks, maybe a month. Of course, some of it may get a bit boring after the first week....

I'm hoping the rain we got last night will be the bulk of the precip, but we just got a short snow flurry. If the four inches of water forecast all came as snow, we would be totally shut down. That would be like three feet of snow. I don't really expect more than a dusting at this point, but who knows?

I just got back from my weekly grocery-shopping trip and in spite of the fact that we're slated to get about two inches of snow (which is usually enough to set off a minor panic) had no problems at all in getting what I wanted which included some good beer in addition to food. I ran into some old acquaintances during the mission, and that was a nice touch.

With all new tires on the car I really have no reason to even be cautious with snow, but I'm going to stick close to home anyway. (Wait a minute, I do that during the summer, too... I need to get out of this rut.)

I hired wheels in Bremen airport (Germany) one December, the local conditions being mild, but explained that I wished to drop the car off at Stuttgart airport as I wished to visit an old friend in Baden-Wuttemburg. That's no problem Herr Dr., but as you wish to drive to the South you will need Winter tyres 'Winterreifen' and that cost me almost as much again as the original car hire cost!!

I couldn't argue, agreed, paid and didn't see a flake of snow on my entire trip! They made their money out of me, for sure.

Carl, what's three feet of snow between friends?, especially now you don't have to dig yourself out of it any more.

LOL, Carl. It sounds like a product of age, though I expect to begin my second childhood soon.

Well it's currently Sunday, and the sun is out.

I can't really tell what the total accumulation was due to the fact that the wind was blowing off and on. It seemed I was shoveling a pretty consistent 6-8" for the most part today. But the sun has been laying on it all day so it may have melted a little already.

As expected, traffic is moving again, roads are very passable. I look out across the creek and can see US 58 is clear, my road is decent enough.

I look forward to the warmer temperatures this week, and look forward to getting back on my normal work routine finally.

The entire driveway has been cleared to the road, I just completed shoveling it, along with a little path to the front and back door.

Dress was black leggings under my short Macabi skirt, under my green Mouseworks skirt. A beanie on my head, sunglasses, and a hoodie. Pictured below I'm wearing a carhart jacket over it, however it got too hot really quick for that and I shed it after about 5 minutes of shoveling.

Plan to go to town today later on just to get out of the house.

Side note: I have found that when I wear leggings, many of my skirts seem to "drag" on the leggings making movement annoying if not outright difficult. I have remedied this issue by always wearing my short Macabi under what ever skirt I'm wearing. The nylon Macabi skirt doesn't cling to the leggings, or the over-skirt making a nice buffer to ease movement. Since I only wear leggings when the weather is cold, having the extra skirt layer doesn't hurt anyway, in fact can be downright warm.

Outfit looks very good, just as a skirted man should look, IMHO. It was in the low forties F today here, no snow or ice, lovely sunshine. I filled the woodbox again and hit the gym.

I don't think it got above freezing here, but it wasn't windy or even breezy, and the sky was clear so plenty of infrared heat from the sun to make one "feel warm".
