How to tell if it's Monday....

Post by moonshadow »

Open the window shades.... if it's sunny.... it's MONDAY!

Likewise... how to tell if it's Saturday or Sunday...

Open the window shades.... if it's DREARY.... you guessed it!

Opening up the 10 day forecast for this week at it looks like we're keeping with the status quo.... Friday the clouds move back in!

I read somewhere that statistics do prove... on the east coast anyway, it rains most weekends through the year. Apparently according to some scientist, we have the west coast pollution to thank for that.

I just completely wasted an entire off call weekend hemmed up in the house because it was exactly 35 degrees outside, windy, and RAINY. BOOOOOOOO!!!!

"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!

Well, it got up to a balmy 56 degrees (F) here in central New England yesterday, more than 25 degrees above normal and broke a record that was set in 1939. I wandered off to a bar and watched the Seattle/Minnesota (American) football game and didn't even need a jacket.

It rained like the dickens for a while, though, and we had pretty heavy fog in places. The local aerodrome was zero/zero for a while and the drive home was "interesting". Had that rain been snow, we'd have likely gotten a foot. I'll take the warm.

Raining here, now it is starting to feel like Winter, it is down to 2 degrees centipede, last Friday we got to below zero and a bus sliding sideways on a bend almost led to an increased heartrate, if I had a decent car I would have got stressed.

With temperatures like that, I wouldn't even bother thinking about a hemline - and just have a layer of sunblock!

Ross :D

PS - Here the temperature is 3deg C daytime max going down to 1deg C at night and rain all day! Still wearing my Skirtcraft skirt to work yesterday and today though - with thick 80D tights - so happy about that :D

One year does not make a trend for climate change, but in my 58 years, I have NEVER seen a winter this warm. It is absolutely destroying the blueberry crop. I still have green grass...and not fescue but St. Augustine and carpetgrass, warm season grasses that normally would have gone brown and dormant by late October. Mowing the lawn in January is wrong, just so wrong. At least I can't be held responsible for the science-deniers. I trust the data.
As a matter of fact, the sun DOES shine out of my ...

Here I sit, nice and warm indoors, watching it p..s down freezing rain outside, likely pinning me indoors for the day. Freezing rain 40 years ago was highly anomalous in these parts; it was stuff that happened in Virginia -- we got snow. Now, "wintry mix" is more or less the norm.

Then there was the recent Atlantic hurricane -- in January -- that spun up in the Gulf Stream near the Bahamas and finally whacked the Azores after taking an anomalous route across the Atlantic. Those aren't unheard-of, but they're rare.

Let the data-deniers deny all they want, just so long as we can keep them away from the levers of power.
