Thank you kind sir :!:
I'm now 'officially' on Medicare

Now, to have a fresh cup of coffee and
start some 'chores' like re-adjusting
the garage door. Reprogramming the
key pad due changing out the battery

Simple things like this to keep oneself busy

Uncle Al,

Congratulations on swelling the ranks of the retired by One. If you were resident here you'd get free travel next year at age 66....all busses, trams & trains, even flights to offshore inhabited islands, as they are 'public transport'. I have it, of course, but don't use it nearly enough. That's OK on a little island like ours, but a similar concession in the US of A would be over the top. :blue:

Enjoy!

I believe the city of Portland Oregon gives free rides on their transit to what the announcements on the trains call "Honored Citizens".

In any case, HBD Uncle Al.

Happy Birthday. Hope you are having a great day. :D :D

We only get free bus passes at 65 in Wales-- Kirbstone is doing well to get train travel also.

Many Happy Return Uncle Al! Please forgive my tardiness as I have been working from a new laptop that was given to me for my birthday from my wife on the 2nd of January and I am still being confused by the outlay of the new keyboard arrangement. I'll post more on that in a new thread elsewhere.
I hope your day was everything you hoped for.

If you're not Irish you'll find this hard to believe, but when this 'free travel' was introduced by our then P.M. Charlie Haughey way back in the 80s (I think), 66year-olds were assumed to require a 'carer', so when applying, one specifies who one's 'carer' is, usually one's spouse, so in effect your ticket gets two of you onto the transport!.

Before my wife herself qualified, she accompanied me as my 'carer' ! Our free travel applies in Northern Ireland as well.

The law got it right -- albeit for the wrong reason. Companionship is important; I appreciate that now more than ever. Bravo to the Irish. I wish things were so civilised here.

A big THANK YOU for all the good wishes :D
It's not everyday that a person reaches 65 years old ;)
Retired end of November 2007 and it is fun :D
Just sorry that I haven't responded earlier than this - helping a
friend, during the loss of his wife of 43 years, sorta takes priority. :blue:

My wife treated me to a fabulous dinner at Red Lobster :D :D :D :D
Bay Harbour Bake - - Lobster, Shrimp, Sea Scallops & Mussels over
linguini with a white-wine sauce.
After that meal, there wasn't any room for desert. :pale: :pig: :pale:
I felt like the proverbial 'Thanksgiving Turkey' - well stuffed :pig:

I've just realized that in 2015 I've been skirted/kilted about 80-85%
of the year. Live DOES get better with age :D
