Re: Congratulations to Carl
Thank you, gentlemen.
It's been a nice quiet day, just the way I tend to like them. And here I sit, listening to Ravel's Bolero (much ruined by a B-grade movie from a few years ago) sipping on my favourite brew, Arrogant Bastard (Stone Brewery, California/USA). Given the wringer I've been through recently, life's pretty good.
So, here I am at 55, rapidly approaching my "best used by date", and am still wondering, "What the Hell happened to the 'mid-life crisis' I'm supposedly entitled to?" In retrospect, I think I've drawn a bead on it, and it happened a couple of decades ago and change. I just didn't notice it as it went by.
Cheers, lads!

Congrats, Carl. I still have you by three years. You can expect to hear from AARP any day. How they find your age, I don't know, but they do. BTW, the list of places where you can get "senior citizen" discounts at 55 is growing every year...

As a matter of fact, the sun DOES shine out of my ...

Congratulations Carl! hopefully the next year will be better than the last one! Your beating me by about a year, I hit 55 in December and anticipate it will be no different. Well it might be, as I am intending to sell the boat I can't afford to keep and am hoping to revisit my yoof and buy an old Kawasaki ZX10 now that they are cheap to buy and cheap to insure as a classic bike. Unfortunately big bikes and skirts don't mix well so yes, if I make it to December life will be a bit different!
I am the God of Hellfire! and I bring you truffles!
