Article about a man in culottes
This doesn't belong in "In the news" because this journo tried on H&M's latest offering, culottes, rather than a skirt. But the reaction of the people, in both the article and the comments, is unsurprisingly familiar.
I have no doubt these will feature in as many branches of H&M as their famous man-skirt of about 5 years ago, and it will sell equally badly.
But any step away from ordinary menswear towards the skirty zone is good, IMO.

If some woman doesn't think I'm "man enough" for her because I don't wear trousers to the exclusion of all else, then it's her loss, not mine. In fact, it's my gain because I won't have to put up with the BS later on in any sort of relationship that might form. In fact, this might be a really wonderful way to weed out the chaff right from the get-go and not even require any thought.

Some how I picture culottes as being like gaucho pants from South America maybe not as long or wide legged.
So what am I describing ?
An Argentina Cowboy wearing beach pants ! LOL !

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

The culottes in the pictures were longer than I remember them from the mid-70s. But they are shorter than the gauchos I bought in my pre-skirt days seven or eight years ago. Mine were several inches below the knee.

The comments he received, or at least the negative ones he reported, and noting that he didn't report any of the positive comments he said he received, make me think he began the assignment as a joke and presented himself publically in a less than objective context. As for the comments, they really revealed a startling bigotry I wouldn't have expected from the presumably refined climes of London. Would someone have said the same about a Tinder date who wore ethnic garb? Or perhaps had an unusual haircut? The commenter should ask herself if her expectations of finding someone that fit her fashion ideal might not be the reason she has to find relationships on Tinder to begin with.crfriend wrote:Hear, hear!!skirtyscot wrote:But any step away from ordinary menswear towards the skirty zone is good, IMO.

Perhaps it's simply my style.... (some men on here seem to have the opposite effect), but my skirting clothing choices seem to do a fair job or repelling those of the opposite sex. Perhaps that's why my wife finally came around... Less likely that someone would "steal her man away".

Which (eureka!) may be a subconscious reason why some women find men in skirts repulsive. It projects the image that we cut our own trail, do our own thing, regardless of outside opinion. Does this make those women sexist? Certainly, but I think it goes much deeper than that. I think it has a lot to do with who really "wears the pants". (no pun intended)
The man in the skirt clearly wears the proverbial "pants".... He bows to no one.
So any way you look at it.... yes a good woman is a woman that accepts a man in a skirt. It demonstrates that she is fair, reasonable, open minded, and of course... has EXCELLENT fashion sense! Anything less is someone who is likely going to make you miserable, or maybe she's simply just too shallow.

I'm too opinionated, strong willed, and stubborn.... a lot of women can't handle that. They wan't a man that can control.

I'm glad to say I think I fit into the Good woman category. No I wouldn't want anyone stealing my man. I came around because I realized it's just an article of clothing and it isn't hurting anybody. You still are the man I fell in love with years ago. Genuine, Kindhearted a bit stubborn but we are suited for each other. That's why I love our little family and enjoy going out with you. We both are strong willed I guess that's a good trait to carry for the both of us.
