My skirts were discussed, the conclusion, no interest.
I'll accept that.

Great! And now, you're in!

Excellent news! It is really just a non-event except in your head. 8) :D But you are well past that now. 8)

I am wearing my skirt again to work - no comments at all though it must be clearly visible that it ain't trousers!

Thanks All,
The problem I was having was the potential reaction from some people who are quite conservative by nature. They are still highly respected in my opinion and that was where my concerns arose. They did all know of my choices, but I had reckoned on a difference when faced with it.
Happily, I was quite wrong. One comment was, "that's lovely" , that's a first too.
As for the "outfit", that will get another outing tomorrow and photos will be forthcoming.
Steve.

Isn't it wonderful when that happens? To go into something half (or more) expecting something bad to come from it, and then having it turn out well is most assuredly one of life's treasurable moments.

That's a "keeper" as well. Having that term used to describe a guy is extraordinarily rare -- and that's a shame.

Hang onto those memories.

With that build-up, I'm eagerly anticipating imagery!

Hilariously, not even six hours after I congratulated Steve on chalking up the "That's lovely" comment, I received one of the same ilk from a younger woman! ("Are you going somewhere, or is that your usual look?"/"Nope, this is just my normal attire."/"Well, it's lovely!")

Talk about putting a spring in your step! That comment goes into my back pocket along with some of the other gems I've accumulated over the years.

Rig: blue rayon vertical-patchwork skirt with fancy heavy lace-like hem, white dress shirt, black waistcoat w/velvet trim, black opaque tights, and standard men's shoes. And a blue bow tying my ponytail back. Nothing really fancy at all.

Life. Is. Good.

If that isn't fancy, I'd love to know what you wear that is.
That said, I do get the occasional "I like/love your look." from younger women. It is a boost for an older guy like me. :)

Cr friend
I have often thought of a skirt with lace, but haven't gone there yet. Wouldn't mind seeing a picture of it.

The lace in this case is the very heavy trim around the hem.
A photo of the skirt. Substitute a white shirt for the green blouse and you'll get the idea.

Saturday, the three of us went and spent our Christmas money. I wore my ankle length black skirt with little white polka dots, black leggings underneath as it was cold out. Our travels included a trip to Books-a-million, Misty Mountain Designs, Walmart, and finally Golden Corral to eat. Golden Corral was interesting, very crowded, and our table was against the wall, where we had to snake around several other tables to get to our seat.

The tables were so close together, I'm reasonably sure the skirt was brushing up against other patrons while moving from the table to the buffet. I was somewhat vigilant, however didn't register anything out of the ordinary. Some stares, but really.... it is rather "stare worthy", so that doesn't bother me much.

I was out in Salisbury on tuesday wearing a long denim skirt, blue tights, black shoes and a maroon fleece. In the next few days I hope to go to Wells and Glastonbury.

Out last night to a film. Wore a black pencil stretch skirt (nylon spandex) by Daisy Fuentes, knee length, with leggings, leg warmers, closed back clogs, Lole underlayer LS top, and Woolrich sweater, all in black. We saw the documentary Janis Joplin: Little Girl Blue. It was quite good. An older woman who talked a lot was pretty interesred in me but never ssked about my clothing. I told her about being taken down Haight Street and Telegraph Avenue in San Francisco in August 1967 by a Great Aunt from Oakland who delighted in showing us all the hippies. I might have seen someone famous but I wouldnt have known; I was nine years old.

Hate to be a crank, and you were only nine after all, but Telegraph Avenue is in the PRB (People's Republic of Berkeley). I was only five or six years older than you, living 30 miles north of SF, and substantially unaware of the whole scene.

Indeed I was not the navigator and am relating what I have been told were the locations we visited, along with Chinatown and some very large park, and a zoo. So there was more than one and i have amalgamated. I recollect noting "hippies" or their predecessors, as I don't think the term had been coined at that time, at multiple sites. So I'm not claiming to have been a part of the "Summer of Love", but I did get a tiny glimpse of it.

My mother was born in Berkelely. My grandfather and his brother had come from Missouri after the 1906 earthquake, and worked their ways through Stanford cleaning up and rebuilding the devastation. My grandfather became a public health (infectious disease) researcher and medical professor in Portland, leaving his post at UC Berkeley around 1922, I think. His brother as best i remember, remained on the Stanford faculty. Both were deceased by the time I visited CA. But having been a crew-cut boy from the cottonfields of the rural South, I had never seen a boy with long hair, or people in outrageous garb. It was fascinating. I had never seen lemons on the tree before, and I could reach out of my great aunt's window and pick them. But, to be honest, I had more fun visiting the next relatives in Riverside CA, which got us a trip to Disneyland.

When I go out and about, I like to look stylish and tasteful for my surroundings, even a bit dressy, as was the case yesterday as I went downtown, spent time in a bookstore, had lunch in a crowded food court of a center city office building, then went to a multiplex to watch Pride & Prejudice and Zombies. And no one gave me so much as the time or day, or even much in the way of glances or second looks. I was just a guy in a skirt enjoying a day in the big city. Looking my best makes me feel great when I'm in public, and that should be the goal of everyone here.
