Just above the know to below knee in very cold weather. I like mid knee also.... anything around 21, 22, and 23 inches is great. It is nice to feel the skirt flow.
Conservative colors, plaids....

Nothing shorter than knee length, well a few, but they all come close to knee kength, I prefer kilt length down to ankle/floor length and most of the time I wear at least ankle length, one reason is that I have yet to find a way of stopping socks or kilt hose crawling down my legs, no need to worry with a long skirt.
Colours, denim, khaki, greys, blacks, blues, one terra cotta Macabi and a couple of red tartan skirts, plus my two green tartan trad. kilts.

Knee length pencil skirts for me. 23 to 27 inches in length, mainly the formal office type, slit at the back only. Denim pencil ones too, knee length or there abouts

Some kilts look Ok too....

Stillwater Kilts: Pride of Scotland, Scottish National, Irish National and one plain black in a mix of budget kilts and the medium-expensive ones.

Lane Bryant: a few pencil skirts, a few straight-line skirts and one ruffled and very thin - all black and all knee-length.
Lane Bryant: a bright blue just-below-the-knee assymetrical faux wrap looking like the outer wrap is just out of alignment.
Lane Bryant: black mini which comes to about mid-thigh and black workout skirt which comes about 2/3 of the way down the thigh.
Lane Bryant: one black ruffled (and thin - just like the knee-length one) that comes to mid-calf.

Solid colours, preferably subdued; a lot of my everyday skirts are hard-wearing practical denim. Below the knee in Summer and ankle-length in Winter. 'A'-line or slightly fuller, particularly for dancing where the fullness of the skirt helps it to swing nicely.

It is great to see such a variety of tastes.
My preferences are 12" to 16.5" in length with 14" being the most common. Fav colours are plain, dark to pale blue, grey, beige or khaki. Preferred materials are denim, lyocell/tencel, ramie, hemp or heavy cotton. These materials hang straight and don't lift in a breeze. Home alone I like thin cotton or viscose in any colour or pattern because it feels good and the only breeze is from a ceiling fan.

As masculine in style as possible. Basically on top they look like regular guy pants and shorts, except for the fact that they are a skirt on the bottom!

This is exactly the look I want to project. Not "in your face" skirt. Just a comfortable feeling of the fabric swinging against my skin.

For me the length varies from 13.5" (stretch denim mini) to 24" (tartan kilt) with various lengths inbetween. I have slim legs that I think look good with shorter lengths (with or without tights)

Colours are generally black, khaki, beige or denim

I have bought and love to wear a couple of floaty type skirts, however I wouldn't wear them in public and don't think I could even bring myself to answer the door while wearing one of them. A step too far for me, even now!

I have some skirts that are strictly for private fun and no-one is going to get a look in, so to speak. 17" is absolute minimum, 24" knee length absolute max. for me. Most are in between. I like plain greys or denim, but some glossy ones and floaty too. Anything from A-line to full circle. Don't like tight pencils & the like.

Kilts are best, if the truth be known, either with kilt hose stockings or tights. I like certain tartans, mostly red, blue or green.

I have one silver-grey skirtsuit, knee length, of course.

The benchmark I started using for length is that if the tops of my thigh hi stockings show then for all intent and purposes, its too short.
But then in a few instances with a shorter skirt that fits really well, i'll just wear STW pantyhose.
I am still yet to try the longer calf and ankle lengths. It will probably be one of those times when I wonder why I didn't try it sooner. !!!

Usually knee length, a bit above the knee or just under the knee and when it is very cold, mid calf.
I prefer classic colors, dark green, black, navy, plaid or tartan types and the likes. I am a classic/conservative guy.

So far, I find about knee length or longer needed for comfort. I suppose my reason rates me the title of "prude", but I'll live with that. Solid colours, and so far I have blues, an olive utility kilt, and a couple khaki ones that are too short for my comfort, though some of you might wear them. While I'm not opposed to brighter colours, I'm inclined to leave those more for my top half. I like skirts full enough to not hinder a full stride at minimum; a ground eating pace given my frame.

As for on top, take a look through my pics thread (and keep further detailed commentary there, please). The scope covered is a reasonable impression of what I wear, though when it is cold I add a flannel shirt or more atop it. Here in the land of the zenith sun that's mostly in the winter, and even then there are plenty of times when nothing extra is indicated by the weather.

Preferred colours :
Dull beige, blue, brown (actually, I would prefer green, but have never found a green skirt) or flamboyant tartans.
Never grey or black.
