Nothing but "GRUMPY" young men - not a smile or hint of lip movement.
Looks like Russian army recruits taking their last walk in civilian clothes before formal enlistment !

Certainly could learn a few things or two from Victoria's Secret or Playboy runway expos !
Oh all right I am not interested in the clothing but in the body form - so what is wrong
with a smile on Mona Lisa ?
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

They're not happy to be seen in the stupid outfits. Even though they're being paid to do so.

I know, through direct connections, that they are usually (always) told to wear such an expression. My sources believe the reason for this is not politically correct to state. For now I will note that some believe the high percentage of fashion designers who are gay men plays a role. Having heard the thinking, I don't have any basis to refute it - though I'm not actually in that world.

PC or not, I rather suspect having the models wear such dour expressions rather hurts than helps the overall image displayed on the runway. A subject who looks interesting and engaging is going to be able to execute a better "sell" than somebody who looks -- to put it "politely" -- downright unpleasant. That applies no matter what the alignment of the designer, model, or sponsor is; some things transcend petty bits like whether one likes men or women.

So, in this author's opinion, putting dour models down the catwalk is counter-productive -- no matter what the supposed reason. Designers should take note of that observation; I'm not alone in making it.

I certainly won't argue that point - indeed, I agree with it. I am aware there are designers who /are/ trying as they can to get properly cheerful expressions on their models. Such folk seem to be a bit few and far between.

Looking back on what I wrote, it more clearly applies, I think, to the near-masculinization or near-caricature femininity with little between.
